BN2 Pilot (TBA) in Antigua and Barbuda through “Grant”
Does anyone have any further information on this operation that advertised for a pilot in August? I responded promptly to the advertisement. There was no reply although I have over twice the hours required plus previous Caribbean experience. Is “Grant” a real person or an alias? I recently tried to send a follow-up email to the address given: pwairlines@dccnet.com. It failed to go through as the user’s mailbox was full. This usually happens when they have given up and moved on to something else.
Perhaps this was another case of a wannabe operator’s dreams exceeding his financial and managerial capabilities. Perhaps it was an existing operator putting out a false advertisement to see if any of its pilots are planning to move. Perhaps they did want pilots but for a less than fully legitimate operation. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I responded to the advertisement, although it had no mailing address, no street address, no telephone number, no company name and had only a first name as the contact. Now we also have a full and unanswered mailbox so I have to say that there is a strong smell of fish. If it is indeed a legitimate operator then it has brought this suspicion upon itself and in future should conduct its business affairs with a little more openness and obvious integrity! It will be interesting to see what response, if any, there is to this post.

Never heard of this operator, but if you worked in the Caribbean, you know that it's not unusual to see someone with bigger plans than budget. Why not try emailing Carib Aviation in Antigua for some more info. They may know something, or maybe offer you a job if you're still looking (they have Islanders, as you prob know).

Oh God, how the rumours get going. Grant, the original one from PWA had an airplane that was going to go south and was helping look for a driver for it. Since gone complete with crew. Company got sold to West Coast, end of story.
Other Grant, as in Wagstaff is now working in Dubai. No connection.

The BN-2 was leased by PWA. When the lease expired, the aircraft owner opted to wet least the BN-2 to the Caribbean. All this happened at the same time West Coast Air was buying-out PWA.
If you're looking for the BN-2, it went to Montserrat, Air Montserrat to be exact. Philip Rogers is the contact down there; Philip's a good guy.
Grant was simply trying to help Philip find crew.

hahah!
I don't think the drag strip was ever the real problem. Moreso a very high turnover driven by company mentality, maintenance, low pay and overall poor treatment towards staff.
Hopefully West Coast can turn things around and make the necessary difficult choices to correct the problem.
