OMNR Q's

Post by Pete »

To fly 215's 415's...or any other neat big aircraft for the OMNR do you need a MIFR...or just a multi rating? For the career guys out there who do this, how long does it take to get into flying, lets say 415's? Just curious. :D Thanks.

they fly IFR so you'd need the rating.

Ok, the MNR fleet consists of DHC2T's, DHC-6's, King Air 350's, CL-415's plus the rotary wing fleet. The basic requirements for the Turbo Beaver are a CPL, plus they do like you to have an IFR ticket as well. Although it is not flown IFR, I remember an MNR requirement for the IFR if you were going to fly the machine at night. For the rest of the fixed wing fleet the minimum is an ATPL. As for what they look at for time I don't have the exact numbers, but they do like to see a mix of float time plus IFR experience. How long it take to progress depends on available positions, retirements, plus your experience level etc.... Keep an eye on the government's employment site Gojobs, there should be some postings coming up this winter.

Cheers..............
