Pretty wild machine! I saw it at oshkosh and it definetly stands out. Docking at regular docks would be a bit of a pain tho

Just curious why you would think that?? I'm sure operated under conditions that it is intended it would probably be a great little airplane..

Why would you ever dock it at a dock? It's an Amphibian.

You are right Totter, under the right situation may be fine. It just reminds me of a Lake Buccaneer x 2.

What did they call them?... "Widowmaker"

Looks fun and fast for a flyin boat, I'd be worried about rougher water and the wind lifting the wing at an in oppourtune time though. The russians have built some pretty bullet-proof stuff on the other hand.

Cheers,

The Lake, like many other airplanes has got a bad reputation because of incompetant pilots.. People just jump in and get checked out by another incompetant. They have no idea about things like porpoising or real airmanship.. "Got my float endorsement on a super cub and now I know everything about seaplane flying!!" Know what I mean??

Good point Twotter... Lots of weekend warriors out there I am sure. Certainly good to know your aircraft, its characteristics & situation wits.
I have even seen experienced pilots do silly things with good aircraft....

Amphib. floats with a nice Wheels up landing (On the runway) - Makes for a exciting afternoon.

Even heard of a person attempting to taxi with a concrete tie down weight on the tail. - Gee, this aircraft sure is heavy! Thirsty too! A real good walk around no doubt.

Actually this list could go on for days.... I don't need to start illustrating the number of times a pilot has made an error.
