Free Stuff / Discount

Post by cyyz »

Okay, sorry...

Anyways, anyone worked at Futureshop, walmart, sears, or any of those places???

Anyone care to mention what the discounts were like if any??

Anyone a member of direct buy? Any comments on them?

They have WAY better deals then that for FS employees. Sure, that's the discount on everything in the store, but it's the vender funded employee discounts that really have the great deals.

Not sure if they still are, but when I was working there companies like ATI, Logitech, Monster, and quite a few others offer direct-from-vendor discounts to FS employees. Sick deals. Can get most Monster stuff 60-70% off, Logitech stuff for less then 50% of sticker, and $500+ ATI video cards for under $300.

Sure you have to wait for them to come in the mail, but the deals were WAY below FS's "cost".

As a happy parent of a FS employee, you have to remember that they are on the front line of clear out, discontinued and floor model items. If those items remain on the books too long it actually starts to "cost" the store money so every once in awhile the store manager goes nuts and cleans house. Just yesterday she picked up a palm pilot, originally $399, was told it worked but no guarantees, no box or paperwork etc. for the crazy price of $10.00. Yes, I typed that right. They didn't have the accessories in store but she bought a car charger and went for a drive....it works fine!

Not sure how much help this is to you, but I am lucky enough to
get Harman Kardon, JBL, Infinity, etc at manufacturer's cost.

I've gone a little nuts. My home stereo system has 3 subwoofers.
Heck, I even put one of these in my car:

So if you can't get anything at cost on your own, like hedley(lucky guy), FS seems to be one of the better outfits for discounts?

Or no one works at walmart, sear, bay... =(

Thanks lads(lasses)

I workED at Wal-Mart for the better part of a year.. or actually over a year I guess. It was 10% off of marked price (non-discounted). At the in-store McCraps was 10% off as well. Durring December, employees get three (3) 20% off purchases. Thats about it.

FYI: I worked in Electronics,
