Global solution
So the email went out today mentioning that in mid Jan our two unions MEC's will be meeting to discuss this topic. For those in ACPA/ALPA with alittle more history then I have, what are your thoughts?
Being less than 1 year at Jazz I have no personal ill will towards ACPA or my friends there, but I know there are some serious ill feelings from both sides on the more senior end. I hope that we can get this ratified before 09 to prevent further degradation of our industry.

KAG, don't sit around waiting for this one to happen. There is some serious bad blod between the 2 groups and everytime I think that they may be getting close, something pulls the rug out from under the party.
The 300M dollar lawsuit is between the former pilot group known as Air Ontario and the Former pilot group known as The Original Air Canada Pilots(use a deep voice here). What this has to do with a GS is beyond me. This is a private suit between 100 and some AO guy and over a 1000 OAC guys. ALAP has zero jurisdiction on this suit yet it keeps coming up at GS talks.

Traf,
Trust me, I'm not waiting around for anything to happen. Reguardless of the decissions I will make down the road, I just hope things get sorted out for the better for my friends and peers at ACE.

The focus of the talks is as the letters state to draft a common set of goals to so as to put a stop to the further degradation of our respective working conditions and benefits. It goes without saying that there are those on both sides that will just not let go of their opinions, and there will always be newbies picking sides not knowing why... just look at the Irish and yes the Middle East.
It is perhaps in the interest of all concerned to focus on having a common strategy in future bargaining. Failure to take this seriously in my opinion will only lead to further demise of working conditions and benefits at both companies.

Unless that common stategy means a single list, single contract and single bargaining agent then it is a hopelessly flawed strategy IMO. Anything less will just be more of the same to the detrement of all.prop2jet wrote:
