Well I have cursed them and others either out loud or using my inside voice , and I am sure that I have been cursed at, .. but I have and never will use that form of profanity .. complete unprofessionalism .. regardless of whether it is broadcast or just witnessed by coworkers

Re: The Radiocommunication Act
The "and"s in there are important. You're allowed to intercept radio calls, you just can't divulge their contents or make use of them after you do.Mark_space wrote:Re: Grimey's post, paraphrased
(2) Except as prescribed, no person shall intercept and make use of, or intercept and divulge, any radiocommunication, except as permitted by the originator of the communication or the person intended by the originator of the communication to receive it.
I wonder how the sub-para above applies to all those who sell or own recievers capable of intercepting the air (...or any other...) bands. I guess I'm looking forward to "...a fine not exceeding twenty-five thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year, or to both;".

I'd love to talk to the simpleton behind that logic.grimey wrote:The "and"s in there are important. You're allowed to intercept radio calls, you just can't divulge their contents or make use of them after you do.Mark_space wrote:Re: Grimey's post, paraphrased

Person 1: "Did you hear xxx on the radio last night?"
Person 2: "Yes, I did."
Person 1: "Too bad we can't legally discuss it, even though we're both privy to the information."
Person 2: "Yeah."
I, for one, am glad the file got posted.
If the idiots in charge (Industry Canada and the CRTC) really didn't want people to intercept and then discuss/distribute the transmissions, then they should be encouraging the design of technology that prevents such distribution instead of relying on ridiculous, unenforceable Orwellian legislation that has no place in a world served by the Internet.

And you wonder why people don't post here .. yeesh .. I said "broadcast or just witnessed by coworkers" .. as in at work .. in a professional capacity .. where I am completely responsible for my words and actions .. not here on a forum .. where anonimity rules .. love that peeps here always seek to put other peeps down, as opposed to looking at the sentiment of a post. .. oh well .. I guess I was owned .. hope I can sleep tonight.

I don't get the big deal, who here hasn't heard ATC swear?
Just last month one controller keyed his mike just to catch his neighbor say "What the @#$! are you doing over there?" We all say something we don't mean for everyone to hear, get over it and move on.
I would hate for half of the stuff I say transmitted
I did find it amusing

No offence but this is why this Forum can be so frustrating. Nobody feels "responsible" for their words/language because of "anonimity". why can't we start acting like "professionals" and start treating people with the same respect we would give them if you had a conversation with them face to face.skycoupe wrote:And you wonder why people don't post here .. yeesh .. If you wouldn't act like this offline why degrade others online?
Act with a "Professional Capacity" Online and then maybe there can be some Mature discussion, not justy petty name calling.
Sorry skycoupe this isn't aimed at you but many posters on this site

Gee, that's kinda like the guy who thinks he's talking to nobody at all, because he has no idea his mike is live, who winds up with his words of exasperation broadcast to all... ...isn't it?skycoupe wrote:[...]in a professional capacity .. where I am completely responsible for my words and actions .. not here on a forum .. where anonimity rules[...]
Face it, that guy's dilemma is much like the one you just got caught in... in fact, yours is even a little worse... you knew you were broadcasting those words over the internet. Don't you think he'd be "completely responsible for his words and actions" whenever he's at work - ie, when he's keyed the mike.

This is the crux of the problem with these forums, " anonimity " very few have the courage of their own self worth to post using their true identity." in a professional capacity .. where I am completely responsible for my words and actions .. not here on a forum .. where anonimity rules "
But this turkey even fu.ked up anonimity.

Didn't we try that once (the "Known Users" forum)?Cat Driver wrote:... very few have the courage of their own self worth to post using their true identity...
.... I went away from here for a few months, and when I came back there wasn't a single new post in there.
I think you hit the nail on the head with that statemant Cat. Most people just aren't that interested in having some of these 'lively debates' without their anonymity.

I didn't hear anything said deliberately over the radio that was inappropriate except for some unnecessary comments by some flight crew. Unless you're Mother Theresa everyone has said something at one time under their breath, or even out loud when they thought the mike button was cold and were not transmitting.
I'm with the fellow that said he would have died laughing if I had heard that. The controller should certainly be embarrassed but that's about it. No fine or reprimand is warranted since the controller did not know he was transmitting.

Somehow, I don't think that that female pilot whom to which he obviously was referring to, feels the same way. The controller made a mistake. I would not fine him or reprimand him in any way if it were up to me. I am sure he feels terrible enough as it is. Pretty much the whole Canadian aviation community and then some, has or will hear of this event before the week is over. However, I think it would be in good character for the controller to apologize via a personal letter to that pilot.
Also, there was no need for that Air Canada pilot to pipe up with his remark. Not professional in any way either. Can't we just all get along, sigh....

...Seems they are going to remove the axe and the control column from the cockpits for security reasons.
