Can't for the life of me figure out why they don't put more RJ pilots in YVR. I flew through most of X-mas (7yrs isn't enough to get X-mas off in YVR in case your wondering) and almost every plane we took over was being flown by a YYZ based crew. Some were being DH'd to YVR to start their flying and then DH'd back when they were done. Doesn't seem terribly efficent to me.....
Were there really 27 people in the groundschool, or did they just make those openings available to the folks that were there? I have a few friends in that class...hope they got the base they wanted!

In a world full of people, only some want to fly. Isn't that crazy?
I would imagine there will be more classes in the next coming months. I know a few people who are going trhough the interview process right now. As for how many exactly......who knows. Last I heard, they were planning a course a month until June.
There is a bid coming our some time this month. That will shed some light on how many more will be hired.
I may have this wrong, but I thought I heard 126 for the year just to fill vaccancies dating to October's bid. The next one isn't accounted for yet.
Two groundschools a month (yikes!) for the forseeable future. They're supposed to be ten to twelve again, not supersized.
Here's a tip for anyone coming to a Jazz g/s if you're coming from outside YYZ. Bring an empty bag that can hold 30lbs or so for all the manuals you're going to get issued.
