If you like poor wages, getting up at 5 am, and fairly slow movement then this is the place for you. Just what I've heard. On the upside you're not based in northern dumps. If you like the east coast you'll get based in some descent cities (Halifax, Moncton, Saint John's). It's all give and take.....

The Ottawa Beech 99 guys do about 6.0 hours a night...that's what I know. Ottawa/Hamilton/JFK kinda thing if I'm not mistaken.

3Green you know of any other bases aside from Out East?

I really don't know too much about the company (as I'm sure that is quite obvious  ).

Hey did you know that Ontario is a "Place to Know and a Place to grow"?
Great song...good luck trying to get that one out of your head for the next few days! Sorry couldn't help it :D

Yup, they've got a base in Ottawa aswell. Just one Beech 99 there I think. As for wages, don't know exact figures but everybody I know there complains regularly about pay. (Then again what pilot doesn't) Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think about $15,000 right seat Navajo and a whopping $24,000 once in the drivers seat.

What do the 200 Captains make? Its all about lifestyle now, what are the costs of living on the east coast? If gets you by and you like the city great. Everyone always wants to make more but if the cost of living is cheap then it might not be to bad. But maybe it is expensive and i'm talking through my ass.

I worked for these guys for about a year in Moncton and leaving was the worst mistake I ever made. When I was there (2001-02) it was very cheap to live in Moncton. Yes, their wages are low but you can still live well on what they pay in the Maritimes. Bill Davidson, The DOM, is an excellent individual. The equipment (the 99's) were a bit on the tired side but we never had hassles about parts or keeping the machines in good shape. The Navajos were similar. The 200 and the 1900 were in excellent shape. Moncton is kinda the commercial centre of the maritimes and most major stores can be found there and the local people are second to none for friendlyness and helpfulness. If I could go back I would in a second, unfortunately they have a no re-hire policy. I really enjoyed being there, I'm sure you will too.

Re: pilot wages

For the '01-'02 season the wages were:

Pa-31 F/O $11,500/an
Pa-31 Capt $24,000/an
B99 F/O $19,000/an
B99 Capt $29,000/an
the 200 never found out what they paid
1900 F/O unknown
1900 Capt $55,000/an

+ You have to pay for the first PPC, the company pays for all subsequent ones

I'm sure the wages have gone up since then but it may give you a ball park figure.

I didn't know Trevor Castle very well but he's a Newf so he can't be all bad ;)

Sad, but true in canucka bux. Should have improved some by now. It seems as though they pay about 60-75% what the going rate is every where else which is too bad because they are pretty decent to work for.
