Flight Training In Halifax
Any one know if Waterville is still opening a flight training centre in @ Halifax YHZ still?

Post 1, just joined the party!Slappy the Squirrel wrote:Nope they are not. Closest spots for you would be Waterville itself or Truro Flying Club, a great flying club I may add.
I'll second the vote for the TFC, good people & 3 big wide runways, perfect for newbies

The "Waterville" you were asking about is Scotia Flight Centre based out of Waterville. They recently have been making noises about setting up at YHZ but it seems to have gone quiet.
The Greenwood Flight Centre (formerly flying club?) operates out of Waterville with satellite operations in Digby & Yarmouth.

Debert is a great place to fly out of especially for a newbie. Lots of runways and not a lot of traffic means you can get a lot of circuit practice without having to do a cross-country on downwind like some places.
It does get a little busy on the weekends and throughout the summer when the Air Cadets get going with their gliders though. Something to consider if you're thinking of starting your PPL in the summer.
