Two more Boeings possible for Canadian North

Post by Arthur Q »

Was told yesterday that Canadian is looking for another 737-200 as of right now, and that they are still planning to introduce a 737-300 as of May or June. It sounds like they are required for their charter side.

It looked as the charter side has gotten very busy as of late. Haven't had confirmation or denial of this. I was just informed about it.

If they hold off for another couple of months they can bet on finding a few 737-500's parked in YHZ (again)!

I've heard rumors that the CNRL project, up in Fort Mc Murray will be expanding with the opening of yet another another camp. However, from what I know CNRL will be sticking to the one YVR- YNR flight per week. It seems like the resource sector in N. B.C/ Alberta etc is going nuts at the moment. It's finally good to see the industry taking off.

What other charters do CDN North run?

Thanks!

gravel kits are hard to come by these days. I'm thinking without. There's less and less gravel up there every year anyways.

Horizon isn't gravel so I doubt they will need it. Rumor is CNRL is the one that wants to purchase the -300 and have Canadian North operate it.

They also do crew change a run for OPTI/NEXEN every other tuesday YEG-YYC-YMM-YYC-YEG.

Three depatures a day YYC-YNR. Two in the morning and one around dinner time. Roughly 300 pax a day back and fourth between YYC-YNR.

I believe that the YEG rotation is close to that.

Last I heard they were also running a moncton and a St Johns run Via winnipeg to Horizon as well.. Not sure if they are still doing that.

Cheers

HOLY!!!

Good to see Canadian North's business is picking up! Also, thanks for the great info. Usually, CDN North operates the F100 from YVR -> YLW-> YVR -> YNR However, I have seen the 737-200 on that route as well as NCA's DHC 8 -100.

I have no clue what you are refering to. NCA just does the YNR/ YVR occasionally..they seem to be coming less ..I guess due to the increase in crew change numbers.

Hope that helps?

Canadian North is getting their own Dash 8's. Don't know how many and when. Can you tell that all the Canadian North people are ex Cdn Regional people. Fokkers and Dash's.

Kinda interesting how small this industry is.

CDN North are getting there own Dash's?? I thought the Regional 1 contract for 2 dash's was good for two more years? Is CDN North planning to do both and with which the -100, -200, or -300 I would love to see the -Q400 in the CDN north colours. Wow there business is really picking up, it'll be interesting to hear about the new 37's about time they started to retire the -200's

Canadian North is looking getting two DHC-8 late summer is the rumour. The contract expires I believe this summer with Reg.1. The word is they are look at Q200 because of the long legs. (north of Yellowknife) I'm sure this is subject to change.

Heard a rumor today from an inside source that a Calgary based company that owns some assets in the aviation industry (More than just aircraft) is looking for financing for 4 new Q200's to lease to Canadian North.

The plot thickens.
