All of our manuals say the same also, maybe TC's got it wrong, and according to some posters here, it wouldn't be the first time...

Anyway, our flight ops department has been made aware of this and are currently trying to solve any ambiguity, 'cos we've been using AIRTRANSAT for the last 20 years. Those of us who use TRANSAT only, have been cutting the corner short.
Sorry but you are just plain wrong those of you who use AIRTRANSAT are using the incorrect telephony identifier.

According to ICAO document 8585 the call sign is TRANSAT nothing more.

Go to the provided link and check yourself.

http://www.eurocontrol.int/icaoref/icao ... browse.jsp

Type in the airline name or the three letter designator and it will tell that it is TRANSAT plain and simple.

The same ICAO document is quoted in Wikipedia and it also says it's TRANSAT not AIRTRANSAT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airline_call_sign

Believe me, I've been checking every link that's been provided for the last two weeks...

What I'm saying is that for us to use TRANSAT would be against company policy since ALL of our manuals state that we should use AIRTRANSAT and that EVERY flight plan comprises a remark stating to ATC that we are to use AIRTRANSAT...plus, it's not dangerous!!!

Now, all in due time will we know for good who's right and who's wrong, since TC approves all company manuals, they must be aware of this and they've been riding our jumpseats and checking us in the sim for the last 20 years and we've always used the whole name... If you don't agree and think we're wrong, take it up with them!

So, if you still want to argue about a g*****n callsign, be my guest; me, I rest my case.

I don't think you're wrong I know you are.

If you have been checking every link then you'll have found that every link says it is TRANSAT.

No-one at any time stated it was dangerous so you can climb down off that little ladder.

I could give a rats ass if you want to argue as to what is correct as per ICAO or what is correct as per your company policy and manuals because ICAO wins every time.
