Is this True!

Post by 55+ »

Was trying to get one of my dependants from CYHZ to CYYT last week and noticed flights were cancelled out of CYYT due WX so we were told…………. Well I got on my laptop into the NC flight planning site to see the CYYT WX as well as the RSC reports albeit it was down to ½ in snow and winds to 25kts and the TAF had VV down to 300ft tempo condition. O/k……. well whatever but back at the hotel I got into FlightAware and sure enough AC were launching off from CYYZ dct CYYT and WJ launched from CYHZ – CYYT as well as CYYZ dct CYYT at around same time we were told our flight was cancelled from CYYT.
Dependant got rescheduled later on in the evening on a flight from CYUL-CYHZ-CYYT, however was told at the airport by an AC person the company has an acute shortage of crews on certain types and any delays at all throws crew schedulers in a tizzy on duty times/reserves. :?

I have been told by a buddy of mine that flies for AC that indeed they are quite short of pilots for certain fleets, and that if a couple of flights to the same destination aren't very full, they they will cancel an early flight and then reacomm the people on a later flight. Kinda sounds what happened to you. My info is just second hand though, albeit from an OAC pilot. Any AC guys wish to comment?

"...albeit from an OAC."

I think most of them have retired by now. :?
