Hello eastdude,
Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier but incidentally WestJet is one of my options I discussed in my post. I was already aware of the differences, benefits etc... it's just that WJ didn't call me for an interview (yet).
As I said before, I really don't intend to make CJ a career mostly because I enjoy working. Shutting the thing down every year or so isn't really conducive to long-term career planning.

I am sad to say good-by to the many friends I’ve made over the last six years at Canjet. I put my notice in today. The mouth peaces out there may say I’ve come to my senses but the people who have been with Canjet for a while know it’s not always about money or benefits, or even about management, sometimes it’s about people. Enjoying going too work every day because the people around you make it enjoyable is easy. This is a great place to live and raise a family, as many of us do. I have come to know many of my coworkers and their families and have had the privilege of being welcomed into many of your lives. I have never worked with a finer bunch of people in my long, and distinguished, carrier. The bitter people, who slam KR and senior management, don’t get me wrong some of you have every right to, need to move on. I know I've been here since the begining. I hope CanJet is successful in its future endeavors because I wish that for all of you who are left. I'm sure some asshole has a rebuttle so bring it on.

Possibly because of all the extra Transat/Sunquest charters that start Feb 1 I would imagine?uwillpay wrote:heheh for sure they are getting down that seniority list in call-backs...for a company that said they would be rehiring about 40 pilots, why are they getting down to more than double that?! Why the cattle-call for FA's?
I wonder.
Last one out turn off the lights. Again.
Um, yeah. ok. So they're sending out bulk emails the third week of January to help crew a/c in February?
What are the actual fleet and crew numbers like now?
-no. of a/c currently flying, and no. proposed
-no. of crew presently recalled, sorry, rehired
, and the number they're looking for.
And what's the scoop with the reserve policies? Heard they were having some problems contacting guys, and guys calling in sick after being called for reserve lol...welcome to what happens when you lose that ever-intangible GOODWILL Kenny!

6 aircraft flying (including 1 spare) for a total of 45 pilots inlcuding management, but that number keeps changing. Looks like more are leaving for AC or WestJet and so far they're at #70 on the senority list.
So far it's been pretty quite and nothing new, but February should be interesting when it becomes more clear what's going to happen in the summer/fall. If this company has to lay people off this summer because of lack of flying, that'll put the final nail in the CanJet coffin.
In the meantime, stay tuned.
Airbus, maybe?

Enough is Enough. Some of you have shown some class while others are plain and simple idiots. Don't any of you have any pride. Everyone stands behind some screenname acting all big and tough. I know that the way that IMP went about the whole shutdown was absolute bullsh!t but nobody can change the past. If CanJet makes a viable business again, it will provide some decent jobs in the industry for a bunch of great people. Remember those days in the north loading your own plane with pop and chips? Everyone did that. I'm just getting tired of the crap on here. Start a new thread. Some of us, wait... Let me rephrase. Most of us put our blood sweat and tears into making CanJet what it was. Not just pilots either. If you don't want to ride the C6 train anymore, I completely understand your decision, but move on! Get over it! Don't badmouth those that are still trying to eek out a few more hours on the 37 or the ones who really do want to work from and live in Atlantic Canada. Don't crush what little pride they have left. Don't discount people who put in their best efforts to try to make it work. Don't bullsh!t yourself into believing that a COO of an airline doesn't know what an Airbus is. Get over yourself. If you need to, move on. I did. But I didn't badmouth the place when I left. Show some true colours. I knew most every pilot on the line and this is not becoming of anyone... Come on guys. Enough is enough. If you don't work at CanJet and don't have anything constructive to add... move on.

Well I haven't wirked at CanJet but I have been following it's progression through the years. I have spoken to a few of the crew in the past and everyone was top notch. I wish you guys all the best whether you decide to go back or move on. Best of luck.

There was little respect paid to anyone. Apparently at times the COO was more interested in shopping at Costco during business hours than running an airline. I know Clive isn't in Costco on a Wednesday at 2pm. Either they are serious or they are wasting everyone’s time. I hope they do make a good run at the charter business, just treat the people who make it successful with more dignity and respect!!!
But yes there are still a lot of good people there...this is why I bother with this.

With the summer flying sched. coming up around the corner CanJet I'm sure with be raped of the rest of it's good employees by AC , WestJet and Jazz.
It is really sad to me to see this great little airline slowly dismantled and the employees left feeling like the rug has been pulled out from under their feet.
Good luck to you all...you deserve better.

What is sad is the fact that once again management has a problem and they're turning a blind eye pretending nothings wrong. 5 pilots quite in one week. More to go in Feb and March. No responce from anyone except a sigh and to shove their heads further....................in the sand.
Now you thought I was going to say something else!!!

I don't think that they are turning a blind eye, they (mgmt) know that people are leaving and there is very little or nothing that they can do to stop people from going. Most people have made up there mind to stay or go and for those that want to go it's only a matter of time.
For those that want to stay hopefully it works out and not too many leave and the company can stabilize and then hire people with a fresh view of Canjet and its future. I'm not holding my breath on this.

If things are that bad there, why don't you stop flogging it and move on? Publicly putting people down not only makes your organization look bad, but also this profession and especially yourselves. You have to earn respect to get it, so try that- because at this point some of you are only embarrassing yourselves.

Eastcoaster,
Respect is a two way street. And you're absolutly correct, it has to be earned. As you can tell it has yet to be earned from the pilots.
You also don't need to tell everyone to get over it and move on. Roughly 56 of them have done so already. 5 moved on and got over it just this week, and more to follow. People are moving on and getting over it so quick that it will actually endanger the jobs of the ones that want to stay!!!

All you skeptics should wait and see what is discussed at the meeting next Tuesday. Alot of you that are constantly making negative posts may be a little upset because it will be good news for CanJet.
For some of you this may be hurtful, but its beginning to look like things are turning around for the better...
I am happy for all working there and for those that are going to be working there in the near future.
All the skeptics should get a life.

You would have to be management to have inside information on what went on in Montreal this week. I hope it is good news for everyone staying at Canjet! I would like nothing better than my friends there to have a little security in their jobs. Don't think that people in the process of leaving will change their minds. It will, unfortunately, not change the attitudes of management towards the employees and that may be a fatal flaw in your plans (going forward).

No matter what the news is, are things going to change? If CanJet secures itself as a long term operation, eventually just having a job is going to grow old for alot of people that stay. Benefits, pay, schedule, the same stuff we've all been screaming for is what will keep most of the crews there for the long run. That's where corporate has to smartin' up and treat the employees with a little respect. Then respect towards management will follow.
Respect is something you EARN.
