TC approved lifejackets

Post by Gurundu the Rat »

Anyone here know where one can purchase approved lifejackets for seaplanes. You know the ones with the double air chamber inflated with either a CO2 bottle or by blowing in it. Are those pretty much standard on all seaplanes? Or does TC approve the use of regular boating lifejackets?
Thanks.

I think Aviall sells them.

These guys were listed on the web as selling them. In Winnepeg.

Regular boating (non-inflatable) jackets don't work because if the machine is under water, the jackets can get pinned in the aircraft. I always used to make my passengers take their floater jackets off just in case.

Aviall also has a supply of aviation approved passenger life vests.

The beaufort MK 28 are the best on the planet .They can come with face shields and strobes.Nice and easy to wear on hot days and offer dual cell floatation that keeps your head above water. Not just a body recovery system. They will help prevent drownings when properly used as directed.

Do not inflate inside the aircraft
