ICAO to revise "standard atmosphere"

Post by the_professor »

Heard that ICAO is going to decree that all POH, AFM, and FMS procedures/calculations be revised to reflect the 1 degree F increase in average atmospheric temperatures that have occurred over the past 100 years.

They are going to apply a surcharge to all ICAO member nations in order to fund the revisions and reviews. Member nations' regulators (TC in our case) will then pass the charges along to pilots in the form of surcharges on their medical renewals.

All E6Bs will also be recalibrated to reflect the new "standard" temperature of 15.5C instead of the current 15C.

Way to go, climate change nazis. This is only the beginning of the kind of BS we'll be seeing because of the blind acceptance of shaky theories.

Quit being such a bitch. Jeezuz Christ. It has nothing to do with "shaky" theories. It has to do with the hard, indisputable fact that the earth is warmer now than it was 100 years ago. Wether the cause of that is natural or human activity-induced is irrelevant. Quit your goddam whining about this topic it's exhausting.

Also indisputable is that it was warmer 100 years ago than it was 1000 years ago, and warmer 1000 years ago than it was 10,000 years ago, and so on, right back to the last ice age.

Humans didn't cause the last 100,000 years of warming, so let's not worry about the last 100 either.

Yep, I'm a relic because I'm not jumping on what is suddenly the "biggest issue ever". Whatever.

Just wait until there's another terrorist attack, or the economy tanks, and the environment issue will go where it always goes -- right to the back of everyone's conciousness for 10-15 years until it becomes the flavour of the week once again...

Help me on this one if it is not a troll.

the ISA is relatively arbitrary in that sea level is an average...the sea never actually being level. Now why would you have to recalibrate E6Bs, as our aircraft instruments are all calibrated on the present ISA.

Explain this all to me professeur, unless of course it is a troll, and then congratulations...you got my attention.
