I think the problem is deeper than that unfortunately. There would have to be a fundamental shift in how upper management sees their pilots. As it stands now it would seem there is no difference between the aircraft and the pilots. They are both seen as nothing more than money making machines and thus are treated as such with no due consideration. Many that have left VAL to the likes of Jazz have used the phrase, "it's nice to be treated like a human being again".Cat Driver wrote:Will SMS fix such a problem?" They have to realize that times have now changed and the ball is once again in the pilot's court. Add to this the information age where word of mistreatment gets out all too easy like here at Avcanada and it's no wonder that employers are left wondering why nobody is applying.
that is a good point. unfortunately this fact remains, people in aviation are whores. and we will screw each other over to get a position. more so in the pilot world than maintenance, but there are back door deals, and there is always the guy who will do anything, these types of things are screwing every last one of us. and until we stop this, companies like voyageur are going to take advantage of it to the fullest.
"untucked" has a very good view on how to handle a company like this one. get what you need from them(ppc), and get out. the reason places like voyageur still think they own people is because of the old school thinking of the management. they gave you a job, they now own you. from all the posts here and in other forms, maybe people have realized that they will not change, and have decided to look else where. (they seem to be running alot of pilot wanted ad's.) there are alot of jobs out there right now. why is everyone so hung up on this company?
