Goverment regulating flightschools is now here?

Post by FlightFX »

New law has just passed, starting Sept. flight shcools are to shell over $800 (as a membership fee) in order to teach CPL and up. Having said that, the schools are required to gracefully hand over 1% of all income provided by the CPL training. Thats a lot of $$ considering the cost of getting your ticket ($25-30K per student) Give me a break, how are the smaller flight schools that are stretched to the limit already going to serve? Or, is that what the goverment wants? This is in effect for Ontario ONLY!??!! Keep in mind, this is a provincal law, the airports we fly into are federal... so how does this work?

So, if somebody wanted to get there CPL just so they could become a better pilot and advance their skills which have no hopes for an airline job have to be regulated?? I don't think so... Who's to say they can't go out an purchase a C-172, grab an instructor (with the qualifications) and aquire it that way? Some LOOP hole that is!

Some thing needs to be done about this. You'll see many doors shut, chained and dead bolted because of this.

Sounds like another pencil pushing desk riding retard that has never even set foot in and airplane came up with this idea.

From my understanding the government of Ontario does not provide OSAP funds for flight training students because it is not government regulated , (well sometimes they do to certain schools as my friend was offered $ 3500.00  for his CPL and multi-IFR when he went to wellington flight center,he turned it down because he thought that was a joke).

On the other hand they do give LOTS of funds to some guy/girl who is going to some stupid career college downtown Hamilton to take a self-study business course or whatever,I am talking thousands of dollars here..

So they better give student enough money to get their CPLs now as it is regulated by them, and only then schools might get more business to cover their new expense.

Cheers
Adam
