Average salary for Chief Flying Instructor?
What would be an average salary for a chief flying instructor with a class 1 rating?

It all depends upon the size of the school.
The more instructors, students, airplanes, the higher the yearly compensation for the CFI, who may often be a DFTE (sorry, DPE) as well. Sometimes at a large school the CFI may have other (business) responsibilities, and long-term CFI's may even be a partner in the school.

Helinas, ask John Chandler. An amazing person who will tell you all you need to along with different payscales!

I've been to schools where the CFI is making somewhere in the $60 000. So again, it all depends on the school!Hedley wrote:At a small (1 airplane school), definitely. At a large (20 plane) school, definitely not. The CFI of a large, busy school would need to take a pay cut to take a job with Jazz/AC.

I guess with this new legislation coming in for FTUs to register as colleges
all the small schools will close, all kinds of CFI's and flight instructors will lose their jobs and my question is if it worth getting a flight instructor rating if this legislation passes?
I really enjoying and HOPE to have a chance to instruct others but it does not look good for pilots that want to be instructors, I could be wrong. If anybody has anything to add please do as I am having a decision to make.
sorry for being off topic just a bit.
thanks

So do you think it's safe to get an instructor's rating in Southern ontario in the GTA and not worry about fighting tooth and nail with other instructors that you might see losing their jobs in case the smaller FTUs shut down.
Do you think any FTU will shutdown in the GTA because of this legislation?
thanks

Ya dude... Don't be stressed. You seem awfully worried about this thing.Hedley wrote:You worry too much.
If you want to get an instructor's rating, do so. Don't worry about the alignment of the planets or any idiocy from the government.

In my experience ( and I have had alot with Government) if they start legislating people out of work and businesses out of business, people will complain loudly, and some sort of loophole will be added to the legislation.
SO as everbody has already stated don't worry to much about it!!!
