Just wanted some info on this company. Heard they lay pilots off every year, if so for how long? How much do Captains make per year? Are they a good company to work for?

No layoffs so far this year. Hiring all the time. Taking on YQZ and YWL when Jazz pulls out in October!

I'm interested in what sort of schedule they have at CMA. Days on, and days off? Also, are they back to home base pretty much ever night, or do they have a lot of over nighting in different places?

CMA? Great company to work for, if the opinions of their pilots count for anything. I do their ground support in YQL, and know probably one third of their pilots personally. Not one of them is unhappy. I don't think FO pay is great initially, but you move up pretty quick. Lots of overnight stays in places like YQL and YXH, but the pilots themselves have a say in who does these, and they move around quite a bit so that nobody gets too bored doing the same run all the time. Sixty flight hours a month seems typical, the aircraft are clean and well-maintained, and lots of practice hand-flying approaches in hard IFR. If you get a call from these guys, answer it!

I heard FO's start at 2K/month and are on reserve for the most part. After a few months you get into the schedule. Not sure what the climb is like. Requirements are 36 24 36

Pay is commensurate with experience. Someone coming in as a 250 hour f/o will not get what someone coming in with 2000 hours will get.

So......What are the MINS? 250 MIFR/IATRA, to work the ramp :?: Any better for the guys with a few more hours? 500+? 1000+? Or is like MOH req's, 2000TT and 500MPIC?

ahramin: I think you may be incorrect as to pay is based on experience. I know some people who've gone FO there with times well above 2000hrs and have started at the companies new "reduced to industry standard" FO pay rate.

The web site says one thing about minimum requirements, but if you don't want to work the ramp, go there with about 1000 hrs total and your MIFR/IATRA. That's who they're looking at right now. Low timers will get their shot off the ramp, but that hiring goes in order of seniority, I believe. And you can bet you're not the only one there with THAT idea.

I'd like to work there myself eventually. Their pilots are really first-rate.

There are at least 2, if not 3 starting wages, based on past experience.
250 hr at the bottom, around 22K
ATPL but no turbine, or turbine no ATPL, 25K
ATPL and time on type are a little higher, I think 29K

Say what you want about this, but at least they are hiring and not asking
for a bond, PPC, or your first born child.

250 types will come from the inside, and should have a pilot interview
with their initial interview so that there are no suprises later, then they get
in line with the other rampies, dispatch, etc. Just a friendly reminder, at
250 hrs all you have to offer any company is book smarts, because
your "real world" experience is zero, so study your ass of for any
interview. Nobody owes you anything.

Haven't seen any evidence of this over the last 9 months of hiring, only
maybe 2 women out of the last 20 or so hired.

And finally, a great schedule, decent hotels if you do overnight, maybe
one day of reserve every other month, and passes/benefits in 3 months.

Apply now, apply often.

Anyone one know if CMA hires FO's from the Dispatcher side of things. I have 300hrs MIFR, and certified dispatcher. I see they are hiring a dispatcher. So if there is a way to move into flying that would be an option.

Also does anyone have any info on Smithers (ie. do they have a flight school?) and does anyone know how they pay their dispatchers?

JC4,

they do hire dispatchers for the flight line. However, its all based on hiring date senority. So you'll be dispatching for a long while unless there is some movement up top.

Smithers is a terrible place. It makes Fort Nelson look like Daytona Beach.
The roads are not paved and it barely gets above freezing in the summer time.
They still have dial up Internet.
If I was to go up there I would make sure that you got at least 33”s on your truck, oh and bring chains.
Good Luck.

Does anybody know when the next class is?
How many people are expected to be in it?
And where the new hires will be based?
If I have 1500tt 1000Multi 120turbine, can I expect a response?

Next class maybe in a month or two and likely bases depends on a few things but likely Smither, Prince George, or Calgary.
