Jazz to AC

Post by ihavecontrol »

Just wondering how long current new-hires at Jazz can expect to wait before being able to slide over to the mainline (assuming they're accepted of course).

It's apparently 2 years from you're initial PPC date at Jazz. You could go over sooner if Jazz is willing to release you early.Their short of crew these days so bank on doing you're full term.

Jazz to AC

From what I've heard only 20-30% of Jazz classes get to go on to mainline. I suggest you jump to WestJet a far far better company that respects its employees.

24 month from initial PPC for all before they let you go. plus a long wait from the time your accepted by mainline until the time you have a Ground school (5month for me) so your seniority at mainline won't be starting until you're assigned a ground school (in order of seniority @Jazz). off the street you don't wait that long, go to westjet and you'll get hired very fast, you probably get the next available ground school........don't go to Jazz until you are PFOed from Mainline, you'll only lose time, and by now you won't see yourself as a capt @Jazz for about 10-12 years anyways......

Was there a female jazz pilot recently let go during g/s?
Also heard AC has recended some offers of employment for people behind held back at Jazz under LOU 18?
If so is it legal to recind an offer of employment without grounds?

I heard that Jazz was only releasing a small number of pilots (6 or 7) per month. So if you were to get hired now at Jazz, and assuming the mainline accepts you, with that bottleneck you think it would only still be a two year wait (plus any additional time to get assigned a groundschool)?

I can help but comment on how this industry has changed over the last decade. I can recall my days as a fledgling bush pilot in the late 90's watching pilots chew at the bit to get the call from Air Ontario/Nova. Amazing what 10 yrs can do. Now people can't wait to leave Jazz, let alone get excited to get an interview callfrom them. What they hell are they doing there? It sounds like another version of a Canjet.
