Jazz Hiring Process

Post by 4930s »

Hello Everyone, i was looking for some clarification on something with regard to the Hiring process at Jazz. I know someone who had an interview and was successfull and recieved a call back for sim evaluation, did the sim evaluation and got a call saying he was successfull in the sim and was set up for a Medical, but after the medical he recieved a PFO letter. this person is young, in excellent shape and great health and does not use drugs of any kind. they did not state medical reasons as the reason for not hiring.

i was under the assumption that if you were successful in the interview and the sim evaluation then those steps were over and this guy would have to assume that he did not get accepted based upon his medical results. would this be an accurate assumption?

i would just like to know......

thanks

Heaven moves in mysterious ways...once upon a time I applied for a greeaattt biiig company and I went through all the interviews and talked to all the shrinks and filled out all the tests and did a reasonable job in the sim. and THEY DIDN'T WANT ME! I don't know why, but THEY DIDN'T WANT ME! Oh Gawd it was awful I thought I was such a loser and maybe I should just blow myself up and...and...and...what was the name of that company again?

I can almost say for certain that it had nothing to do with his medical. Jazz doesn't get detailed results of the medical, it's confidential. Your'e either fit or unfit. If your'e unfit the Doctor would let you know and try to correct the problem. I believe he would have to pull your medical if it couldn't be corrected.
I think what happened, and I've heard this happened in the past, is the sim and interview went well but it took a while to get in touch with the references. There was a bad reference and it was game over unfortunately.

I've heard stories of people who have taken offer letters into their place of work, trying to force either a better salary or work situation. Others have decided to go out with a bang, and have gone out of their way to burn bridges on their way out of their present/former employer's door.

Take note: Both these exit strategies are rather poor ideas. All it takes is one unsolicited phone call, even if it's not from one of your listed references, and your job is taken from you before you even got to start.

Not such a good move...

Sucks for your friend, but is there a chance he might have made his own bed? Just curious...

Swerved.

You can fail the Ac/Jazz Medical but still hold a TC medical. It is a lot more indepth the TC medical as TC doesn't have to pay for your training/ disability if you crap out in the short term. Having said that, The AC doctors are not gunning for you but will actually do pretty much whatever they can to get you to pass their medical. If there was a prblem they would have told only you the specifics and given Jazz a pass/fail.

Look somewhere else.

Just remember, just because they decide to send you for the medical, does not mean that you are hired.

The people in the medical office are watching and getting to know you too. Just because you are there, dont act like you are king shit. That will come back and bite you!

*By the way, I'm not saying that is what your friend did. Just some advice, thats all.

Hey

The Jazz medical was not anymore in depth than most medicals I have had, In fact the doctor that I ahd did a BS hearing test in a non sound proof, sound proof booth and said I had some hearing loss. I had an audiologist check me out and he is full of it. There must have been some other problem with his application or references because I got hired.

I will have to agree with the statement that some where along the way he must have gotten a bad reference or someone went out of there way to screw your friend. It some times take a long time to track down all of the references on a resume.

HAHAHHAHA, man oh man, I laughed my ass off when I read this.

I think the only requirement these days to get hired at Jizz is

1) a pilot's licence
2) a heartbeat

why you want to work there, beyond me.

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone wants to go there. Is it to put your time in to get a job at Westjet?

Have a look at the thread "Whats so good about Jazz" and you'll see lots of reasons to come to here.

Hey, don't laugh, I flew in one of those things in Honduras a few years ago. It's actually a good airplane and the crew I was with was good.. It seemed kind of scary until I got to talk to the Captain and he was an old Twin Otter guy (go figure) and it was the F/O's leg, him and I talked most of the trip and the F/O did a great job. Nice airplane and a good performer, it finally ended up being certified in the US and I'm actually shocked that we havent seen any in Canada. The company got bought out by a US company that went TU..
