Hellllo there,
Ive came up with a bunch of questions with regard to ATPL requirements of which I've received numerous responses including that from transport. Curious if anyone can shed any light on these with firm answers...
1. With regard to PIC under supervision, I understand all of the company requirements, approved training program etc. but do you need 150 hrs PIC prior to logging any PICUS, or do you just require the 150 hrs PIC by the time you apply for the ATPL? ref 421.11(4)
(obviously you'd need the 150 to qualify for the 250 total including the 100 PICUS max but I haven't found firm wording to indicate either way)
2. Must you have completed a group 1 flight test within the 12 months preceding the date of application or would a FlightSafety 1 year recurrent (training, no ride) suffice? ref 421.34(5)
3. Prior to conducting a captain ride for an aircraft over 12,500 lbs, do you need to have the ATPL in hand or would you only need the ATPL in hand prior to acting as PIC on the actual aircraft?
Here's the link to the outlined CAR'S for interpretation: http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/Regse ... htm#421_34
If anyone has been through this first hand, your input would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
ATPL unleashed

#1 PIC and PICUS hours can be logged in any order
#2 A PCC, Flight Safety recurrent, or any other recurrent will not count. It has to be a Group 1 IFR PLUS:
#3 Not 100 percent positive, but i think you will need the ATPL in hand before the ride, as you will not be admitted to the ride without the proper quals for PIC minus the ride itself. The ride is the LAST step.

Which includes steep turns and other non IFR manoeuvres. Basically a PPC.(i) to perform both normal and emergency flight procedures and manoeuvres appropriate to the aeroplane in which the flight test is conducted; and

Re: ATPL unleashed
You must have done a TC instrument ride in the previous 12 months. If the FSI recurrent didnt' involve an instrument ride, then it's not sufficient. You had to have had a TC inspector, or Authorized CCP or DFTE to conduct the ride.Caballero wrote:2. w.r.t to the PICUS, i don't see any reason why you should have to have 150 hours PIC first. The order shouldn't matter.
