I remember it too... I also remember some scandal it had regarding their advertising... a dog peeing on Air Canada or something... I forget.
At any rate, Greyhound ended up as just another chapter in the weird and wacky world of aviation startups in Canada.
How many aviation start-ups did Canada have over the last 10 years?
A lot.
I think the only one that lasted was Westjet.
I felt sorry for the pilots at these companies... they must have felt like restaurant workers who work at one restaurant for a month, then go onto another restaurant, and so on... Very hard on their families.

thats a very good point lots of start-ups that didn't make it,,, very sad. I heard that the industry has a 93% failure rate. Some that I remeber,,,
Canjet 1
Canada 3000 (not a start up in the last 10 years but we lost them)
Royal (see above)
Vista Jet
Greyhound Air
Jetsgo
Canjet 2 (sorta gone)
Vacances Meastro (wet lease with skyservice)
Skyward
Zip (folded into Air Canada Mainline)
Have I missed any? I dont count Canadian because they "merged" with AC.

I used to commute to Toronto out of Vancouver on Greyhound, great little airline and the 72 would pass all the other stuff the airlines operated.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Jetall
ACE, All Canada Express
Air Montreal
There was also a G1 operator out of YYZ, can't remember the name, ran cargo.
There was also a DC8 operation that started in YYC with a goal of supporting the oil industry in Russia, they did not last long, can't remember their name either. This one was in addition to Points of Call and Holidair.

Arctic Wings is another to add to the list.
How many of you remember this little fact? Simo Air in Windsor,ON was originally approached to operate this airline before KFC eventually did it.
The owners of Simo died in a small twin crash around Killarney a couple years later. I think Georgian Simo them after that for the Caravan operation.

It's better to break ground and head into the wind than to break wind and head into the ground.

Nationair

A charter carrier, used by the Canadian Forces to fill the gap between the departure of our 707's, and the arrival of the Airbus. Flew with them into Lahr a number of times in the early '90's. Memories of Service Dress-clad squaddies, crammed like sardines into one of their DC-8's, with unbelievably BAD inflight grub, even by Army standards...
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest!
