Viking Aircraft in Victoria hold the type certificate now, apparently they can new build replacement parts for dhc6, etc. I think they will start production on the Twin if they can scrape up enough orders. You think an order from Borek would do the trick! But, nothing firm yet.

I thought it was a sure thing, called the 400 series. Look at this part of their website http://www.vikingair.com/content2.aspx?id=276 and all the details are there.

Not much difference than previous twotters, but:
-bigger engines (PT6-34 at 620hp)
-MTOW of 12,500lbs
-airframe will weigh slightly less than the originals because of lighter components
-$3.2 million US to buy
-glass cockpit
-components to be built in Victoria but assembly will be in Calgary http://www.vikingair.com/content.aspx?id=320

I had a big, fancy .pdf with even more info on it but I can't find it now. (I do remember the "unauthorized use" of one of my photos in it - thanks, Viking ).

So, are they building any yet or are they waiting for (enough) orders?

Yeah, TMA has 5 on order but there not betting the company on them ever arriving. They found 3 more 300's that they want online by july and the ATR's to get sorted before they even consider the 400's

PT6-34 is 750 Hp, used on the DHC-3T. But maybe they are D-rating it?

And that takes an observant eye to see that. You are an experienced airman, aren't you. I don't have as much experience as you, but the terms "performance", "capability", "capacity", "pleasing to the eye" readily come to mind.

DeHavilland sure knew what they were doing when they built that baby.

Sure enjoy keeping "abreast" of things on Avcan
