I got mine from the college bookstore (NLC in Dawson Creek). Very good book though. Study the table of contents and do the practice tests in the back of the book lots.

Good Luck

I've heard the CAR's exam has been made harder in the last year or two. Anybody write recently, any truth to this? Sounds like just studying Cars for the AME is not good enough anymore, or will barely get you a passing grade.

i wrote the cars exam aproximately 2 years ago... I used the Aircraft Regulations simplified book to study..... The CARS exam is not really that hard, it's just alot of memorizing.... if you have "study aids" (copies of the exams) do all of them... transport has something like 3 or 4 versions of the exam and they rotate from person to person... Good luck!

its been a couple years since I wrote but if I recall correctly the CARs for the AME is a better book than Aircraft Regulations simplified. But either or both is a help.

In regards to the study exams, anyone find the one's available through http://www.aerotraining.com to be full of typo's? Typo's, and some answers that make no sense whatsoever (conflicting with what I read in Car's for the AME) as well incorrect CAR's references (for studying the answers in the real CAR's). I'm finding those exams to be of little help, as they annoy and basically infuriate me.

I found "Cars for the AME" the best. Do exactly what the book tells you and you will probably pass. Make sure you do all the sample exams at the back. My combined average of those four sample exams equalled my actual Cars exam mark.
There was alot of questions about Parts and subparts. Definitely know the difference between AWM and CARS. I took the exam last June. It was surprisingly easy because I had studied that book.
Remember that Transport exams are more psychological than anything else. They try to fool you. Read every question and answer thoroughly. Troubleshoot the question and answers like a flowchart.

Know when elts, altimeters and such are due and how often.

Good luck. It helps to also know that its $100 everytime. Relax and do those sample exams. You are really close.
