The last thing I would ever want is an "easy" medical.
Holding a pilots license is the last thing on my mind when it comes to my health.
I want a doctor who will examine me in great depth to ensure there is nothing medically wrong or going wrong.
The only thing I draw the line on is him having a hand on each shoulder when doing a rectal exam.
Judging by some of the comments pilots make about getting easy medicals just to hold a license I'm thinking they would submit to the two hands on the shoulders rectal exam to pass the medical.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

a little out of line
Cat, I think your allusion to the rectal exam might be a little overboard.
That being said, I think a proper medical should be done in order to positively assess one's fitness to fly. It's everyone's safety.

I was just going to jump in on the easy medical mentality. Just quit doing walk-arounds before your flight, same difference. Or perhaps there is an "easy" AME out there for your inspections?Cat Driver wrote:The last thing I would ever want is an "easy" medical.

Exactly, but it is amazing how many pilots will go to a doctor who is satisfied as long as the pilot can see lightening and hear thunder." I was just going to jump in on the easy medical mentality. I certainly understand your attitude Cat; old people like yourself are always more concerned about health issues than the rest of us.Cat Driver wrote:The last thing I would ever want is an "easy" medical.

Good one:" I certainly understand your attitude Cat; old people like yourself are always more concerned about health issues than the rest of us. "
But you forgot to mention if it is physical or mental health.

Naw CFMartin, just covering all the possibilities." Cat, I think your allusion to the rectal exam might be a little overboard. "
By the way did that concern or excite you?

So long as transport is in the habit of threatening your medical before asking questions I'll continue to seek efficient medicals and have an additional complete physical every year from another doctor. I learned that lesson the hard way.
My transport and family doc were at the same clinic. The TC guy got his panties in a bunch over a blood glucose test the other guy had done and delayed my application without telling me untill he could get a copy of the results because it could've been testing for diabeties.
Ironically I had already told him I'd recently been to the other doctor and the test was for menstral issues. I'm pretty sure last time I checked you are allowed to flywithout effective ovaries
