Diamond aircraft

Post by cymuni »

Does anyone have any opinions on Diamond, good or bad? Are they good to work for? Can I move up in the company? Would working for them building planes be a good stepping stone for me as a pilot? Ect.

Diamond aircraft

Here's the thing,

I've heard that diamond has lots of openings at their london plant. I've had a interview and I think I have a good chance. The pluses as I see it are; company flying club. so 1/2 price planes. I could finnish up the 20 hrs. of PIC needed for my CPL. Do my time building planes really get to know the aircraft, and maybe get the odd delivery flight. In a few years maybe move into the flight testing department. After that who knows? And as you said meet some like minded people.

Are you sure about the 1/2 price on planes?? I'd go work at Diamond just for that.

$500,000 for a D-Jet.. Sh9t.. You'd be a millionaire in a couple of years selling those puppies to your friends..

Thanks..

Test pilot.. not a bad plan..

Ha haha

Yes sorry of course I mean half price rentals. Not as good but pretty sweat none the less for a guy trying to finnish his CPL. That would be all aircraft so twins aswell.

Well just talked to a fairly recent hiree at Diamond and there are reduced rental rates but at Empire Aviation, who took over the Diamond Flight Centre and who run the UWO program. That means a/c availability on the Diamond a/c in particular could be iffy. Secondly, this person and at least one other were just let go prior to the end of their probationary period.

As for the test pilot stuff...its not as far fetched as you may think, for the production planes anyway, not sure about prototypes etc as that is usually done in Austria. I do know 2 pilots there, both former instructors with a great deal of engine and mechanical knowledge. I believe they do the initial flights that are required before a new a/c can be delivered. Sure is nothing like flying the first double decker Airbus or a new jet fighter tho
