If you want to fly floats, yes.

Who would hire you to fly a floatplane if you don't have a rating?

Kind of like applying for a multi IFR job with no multi IFR rating.

Pretty much was wondering if some operators train u on floats or best impression is to have obivously have the rating. Thanks tho, already signed up to go on a float course in a couple weeks. Just doing some homework before my visa takes a hit lol

7 hr float rating eh.... well like you were saying some companies will do it for you after you've worked the dock for a bit.

Oh and "Borek and other companies," I hope you don't have you heart too dead set on getting on with a company like Borek with out many hours logged in the bush. ;)

Make yourself as versatile as possible. Get the float rating, but moreso, build hours on floats. If a company gets two applications for flying... say a Beaver on floats. They'll probably pick the guy with the more float and type time rather than the person with less. Unless there is something about you that shines moreso than the other guy.

When looking to get on with any company, look at their website requirements. Borek for instance, wants a float rating, for the simple reason that insurance companies will not let a new co-pilot do the 2 hours solo for the rating on a Twin Otter (On floats wheels or skis for that matter).

I can't speak for the YZF/La Ronge crowd, but at KBAL when a decision is made to put a pilot on a given aircraft and time, things happen really fast. Groundschool. first aid, whimis , Dangerous goods, orientation, SMS, training, ride, indoc.... we're talking days here, not weeks. Taking a few leisure days to go to Cooking Lake or Ear Falls or Lac a Tortue is not a realistic option. Particularly if you were going to the 'Dives in February.
