Insurance vs. Waiver

Post by Airtids »

For those of you in small shops (or even not-so-small shops); who uses a waiver, and who holds liability insurance? Up until now, we've been primarily maintaining our own equipment, but it looks like there may be an opportunity to pursue some outside work. I've looked into the insurance issue and wow!! $$$$$ Folks have indicated to me that a waiver is acceptable, but coming from a family of lawyers, I'm skeptical a waiver would actually hold up if, heaven forbid, you actually need it to. If you work under a waiver, how comfortable are you?

Thanks for your responses.

Either get in or get out.....waivers are not worth anything if things go bad. Make sure your shop rate is adequate to pay for a substantial insurance policy! Oh and don't forget to make a profit.

Good luck.
