niss: I'm not sure what your point is. My bizarre case went through the Tribunal, Tribunal Review, Federal Court, and Federal Court of Appeals, with multiple appeals on both sides, and along the way, some pretty odd precedents were set in regard to the definition of an "open air assembly of persons" (6 people, according to Transport), double jeopardy, and for a while, until I had it overturned, it was illegal to perform aerobatics below 18,000 feet because the Transport lawyer claimed that I had less than 3 miles forward vis in a vertical downline.

The complete paperwork involved stands more than 4 feet high.

I'm not sure why anyone would waste their time researching such a stupid waste of the taxpayer's money. I'm sure Transport blew at least a quarter of a million bucks on it. They had me red-flagged with Customs. They phoned up airshow operators and threated them that if they hired me, they wouldn't get their SFOC. At one point, I had a Transport Inspector following me around from airport to airport in Ontario, "covertly surveilling" me, trying to catch me exceeding 60 degrees of bank in the circuit. Recently, Transport attacked a family member of mine, which was motivated by the "considerable anger" towards me, according to a guy I know on the inside of 4900 Yonge St.

If anyone involved in this has anything to be ashamed about, I'm pretty sure it isn't me.

I've NEVER made a secret of my exceeding odd experiences with Transport - I'm sure everyone here is sick and tired of hearing about them. Also, it's ancient history - what is it, 7 years ago now?

Back to flying (is this an aviation website?) ... if anyone has seen me fly, and don't think I do it very well, please, teach me what you know. Strap on a chute, climb in the front seat, and teach me what you know that I don't about aerobatics.

FWIW I hold a Canadian ATPL with group 1 (multi) IFR, class 1 instructor, class 1 aerobatic instructor, ICAS card valid for solo and formation aerobatics, SFOC exempting me from CAR 602.27(d), FAA COMM-SMEL-IA, etc etc etc.

I have been flying over 30 years, and have never dinged an aircraft. Not everybody loves me - I guess some people get a burr up their tailpipe when they see a hangar full of beautiful aircraft - but I'm not sure that's the objective.

Lurch mcrit has posted something that contains very serious allegations against me and my intregity as a pilot/mechanic.
. and his crew kept trying to run the left engine without oil pressure.. I fired him for that (and for other irregularities, no current medical and no US type rating as was required for my insurance..).
Do you really believe that people like the Edwards Brothers and me would stay in business working for some of the riches people in aviation if we dont know how to run aircraft engines? It is ludricous to suggest we would keep trying to run an engine without oil pressure.... http://www.ewa-uk.com/

Read that and make your own mind up as to if we know what we are doing or not.

But the most serious allegation is that I went to England to fly for a client without having the proper license's and a valid medical...remember I rely on my contacts with the insurance underwriters for a lot of the training that I do for insurance purposes.....

......All my licenses were valid as well as my medical, for mcrit to continue alluding to me being a law breaker is unbelieveable and tells you a lot more about mcrit than it does about me.

Cat don't worry about convincing me, myself and every educated person on this site know that he is full of bunk.

This just shows he doesn't know much about Airplanes. I have had an engine failure with a loss of oil pressure and trust me you can't keep it running/turning even if you tried.

Well Hed, getting the full story on you case took me all of 20 minutes over lunch one day. Seemings how we had that big discussion a while back about everyone here on avcanada being upfront about who we were I figured you wouldn't mind letting people have a look through your case. Speaking of which, here is the end of that story, the part where the Judge brings down the final word on your little airshow.

Cat, don't get pissed at me. Bob Reid's the fellow that seems to think you broke his airplane and he seems to think he fired you for it. If you have a problem with that drop him a line and work it out with him. Give him my name and number, (Hed has them and thinks he is very clever for discovering them). I'll be most happy to post whatever reply he produces.

O.K. mcrit, you just seem to be determined to accuse me of something I didn't do.

So please explain to me how I could have broke his airplane having never flown it?

Did you know about the flight good old Bob and his new crew did at North Weald where they launched into the air for the "FIRST" flight that airplane had done in eight years ( several weeks after I walked off the project ) and procceeded to climb into Standsteads airspace without a clearance and no working radios on board the airplane causing havoc for the controllers who had no way to communicate with them....and then uploading an overload of fuel and taking off early the next morning without documents finished to make the aircraft legal and why not ask Bob what happened when the French authorities got ahold of it in France?

I saw it there several years after it arrived there with the ailerons broken because they did not secure them for wind damage....rumour had it that the French authorities grounded it when they landed it....but hey, I had no further intrest in it after I walked off the job and if Bob lost his airplane it is no concern of mine.

So sonny go do some more research starting with say the British CAA and ask them what they thought of my refusing to fly something illegally?

If I were you I would sit down and think of where these statements of yours are leading you.

I personally would not want Avcanada to delete any of your posts because you make Cloudcounter seem not only intelligent but rational.

I think you guys are being sucked in by a troll, probably the same person as CKS, Rockie and Mcrit - all one person and each equally annoying.

Don't feel that you need to defend yourselves against such claptrap.

Hedley, I'm mad at you now too because your photos are so large I have to scroll back and forth to read the posts! Shame on you (they're nice shots, though)!

I really don't want to get dragged into this but, not knowing all of the evidence that was given by witnesses and not having been there myself, this strikes me as being a case of Transport acting like a posse in the wild west. They put a rope around your neck and sling it over the nearest branch, then get out a law book to decide what you're being hung for. If you're guilty of negligent operation just because you did something that 2 other pilots said they wouldn't do then I'd be in jail next to Bob Hoover and . Yeagher. The case may have been well proven but I didn't see it there in the report of findings you posted.

I would also point out that I did read that the court found him guilty but I didn't see the part about the judge tearing him a new one and calling him "reckless and negligent". Is it in a transcript posted elsewhere?

Guys, what does all this shit have to do with carb heat and mixture? Nothing. Save the pissing matches for somewhere else, preferably a place where all those keen new student pilots don't need to be burdened by your baggage.

guys, ok, we have fights, people sending info about anything that i'd be glad to read if I asked specifically, so on a thread about mixture and carb heat, those who feel the need to solve personal fights are hard to imagine as professionals, sorry guys, but right now, would hate to share the same plane as you, as much as i respect your experiences.
talking about professionalism, when you guys teach, d'you fight about personal issues on the radio?. PM yourselves, and people who ask you to if you want, but let s keep the posts for what they are, and keep dreaming that it's still a dream for most of us, and the fights to your backyard, thanks

nothing insulting to anybody in particular, hope the message will be understood right :)

so, mixture and carb heat anyone?

nyco, good point. I think that this forum is just a safe place where certain of us can vent a little stress.
As for Cat and Bob Ried; If what is written on that website is untrue, all Cat needs to do is show it to his lawyer. I image Bob has some deep pockets to settle up a libel suit. I know if I were in Cat's position I wouldn't be wasting my time talking about it on here. I'd let the Judge do my talking for me.
