Well I heard no groundschools for the summer but there are quite a few guys leaving, I doubt they will have enough crews. And crew sked if you're reading this, dont bother calling me all summer- I don't want any WDOs!

They are still holding guys back from AC on the premise that we are short staffed so one would think they would keep on hiring until that situation is rectified.

The plan is, Although subject to change.

2 more groundschools in May, and one in June.

Then no more groundschool until September.

They are planning (Don't mean to open tha pandora box here) to hire the "200 hour grads" for the September class. I guess the evaluation proccess will be done over the summer.

Again, this is second hand info so treat it however you want it.

Hey Bcflyer, when does your freeze officially end. thy would have to release you by then no.

Cheers

I heard the same, theres only a few 3000hr pilots left in Canada so in September it's time to start fresh and finally raise the bar and put the cream of the crop from colleges in the right seat.

My freeze isn't over until the fall of 2008. I have a memo from MC stating that they are still intending to let guys go early as soon as we are sufficently staffed. Holding onto guys because we are short of pilots while not actively training new pilots would be insulting to say the least.

Training department is taking the summer off. Just ask your supervisor.

Do you really think they care BC??? Rumour has it we are shortstaffed for the summer already and I can confirm it in my base. It's the WDO hotline pretty much everyday. The cash would be nice but they haven't been playing nice with me lately so it real easy to say NO!!!!
I love looking on the AC NET and seeing the flights they offered me CX.

It looks more like they haven't balanced the flying properly. Looking at the RJ bases system wide, YVR and YUL both have tons of reserve while YYC and YYZ have next to none. Hmmm how to solve that problem?? SPREAD THE FLYING AROUND!!! Its not rocket science. If we are so short on pilots why would they even think about taking the summer off? (don't worry I've been here long enough to know that they don't do anything that makes sense, Guess we just aren't seeing the big picture.....)

BC
I said they were short, not desperate. They can take the summer off cause they have 50-100 frozen guys to keep the show running. As for spreading it around, I see your westcoast asses doing YYC-IAH often.

Ps Right now is the change over from winter to summer sked so things are kind of out of kilter. Lots of AC and Jazz a/c sitting around cause winter sked is over but summer hasn't started.

My point was that for the month of May their are alot of our "Westcoast asses" sitting around on reserve. Since they are going to end up sending those guys out go cover the other bases with no reserve anyway, why not just transfer some of the flying. As for the IAH turns, we had one month with a few of them. May has a grand total of one trip to IAH.
