[I'd rather not post anything until the TSB finishes their investigation and posts the report. As I already said as well.. Theres still a lot of grey parts associated with the emotional trauma.
Why are ya so curious?]
[Glad to see that you are ok, I would be interested in reading the TSB report, its a good way to learn from other peoples mishaps, good advice regarding the shoulder strap BTW.]
sory to sound rude rowdy....and your right, its probably not the best time to ask that kinda question, however, "Avlearner" said it.....its a great way to learn from the past so that the same problem does not occure again...
Good to see ya recovering so well.....

You know, Rowdy went through quite the trauma if his scar tissue is anything to go by (which it is), including spending considerable time alone out there waiting and hoping that someone was going to come find him soon. Maybe, just maybe, his head is still a little fuzzy with it all. One thing we know for sure ... he didn't do this to himself on purpose.
Leave him alone. He'll talk about it when he is healed. Whenever that may be.

He's going to help me learn to sail, and I'm going to introduce him to some local talent from Pachina Bay.Leave him alone. He'll talk about it when he is healed. Whenever that may be.
It may not heal him it may force him back to a hospital, but he's a tough hombre and it won't even slow him up.

A porcupine? So what your saying is that when you were croutching in a foxhol in 'nam with charlie moving in all around you you caught one and it knocked you back on a porcupine?Jess wrote:Hey Rowdy,
Are you willing to share the recipe for your miracle concoction for scars? Not that mine are anywhere near as sympathy worthy as yours but a recent porcupine incident left a couple marks that I'd rather not have to continue explaining to everyone.

Got a nice patch of what looks like road rash across my cheekbone, plus a two inch gash running down my cheek. I'm greatful I didn't lose an eye but now I look like an abused woman. I didn't even realize I had four quills in me until I went to wash up after having to pull quills out of my Doberman/German Shepherd/Dum bass's tongue and butt. I guess she got in a couple of good shots before she got her butt handed to her.
In my defense I obviously didn't start the fight. I only stepped in because my dog is a litlle on the dumB side (That's what you get for rescuing an inbred bush dog) and she needed to be saved.
So, any helpful advice so I don't look like an idiot for the rest of my life?

Ya, maybe you decided to fight a porcupine but you decided a stick was to wussyish for you so you tied your hands behind your back and tried to bite it to death? You caught a few quills in the face but right after you pulled them out with your tongue and spit one right through the porcupines skull...........purple monkey dishwasher.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... fid=757572Its use in "The Simpsons" was accurate; Bart starts a rumour by whispering to one person who whispers it to another, etc. By the time the rumour reaches the front of the crowd, the phrase "Purple monkey dishwasher" has been added to the end due to people mishearing the original rumour as it passed from person to person.

Oy! sounds like quite the fight ya put up for your mutt there Jess!
I'm prone to ending up with good stories. But a fight with a crazed bush porcupine sounds pretty badass!
As for the tips.. I've got some fantastic vitamin E type syrupy stuff that my grandfather gave me (which I think you can still buy at the hippy-ish nutrition stores) and also some aloe vera gel. Apply em both once a day (use one in the morning and one before bed) and give them a good rub into the scars. Massaging the area after a few days of this also does wonders!! Gramps also pointed out that if you're out in the sun to put just a dab of tanning oil on that and the surrounding area to help bring the color back a bit.. but he's gettin old an crazy in his ways
I've made good gouges from fights with the crew house kitchen window sills, bicycle spills into the ditchs or cochrane, random water rudder cable attacks and plenty of other good war stories scars all but disappear with this treatment. Hell.. I was once stabbed in the arm with a metal mechanical pencil and lived to tell about it!

Thanks Rowdy. Now I'll return your hijacked thread with much appreciation and sincere wishes for your continued recovery. Your view of the world is inspirational.

Yeh, got shot with a 357 Magnum back in my more active days it was quite an experience. Didn't hurt at all until the next day when I woke up in jail with no pain killers. It hurt then but I'm a tough SOB and wouldn't give e'm the satisfaction of asking for pain killers.Cat Driver wrote:

Hey Rowdy,
Regarding your sailing trip with Cat... Be afraid.... Be very afraid... This guy will get you in all kinds of trouble and teach you all kinds of things you probably shouldn't know!!!!!
At least make sure his better (by a long shot) half goes too.. At least that will give you some protection..

I had my six month check up with the spinal and trauma docs the other day. The vertebrae are solid, the muscle getting damn close. I'm apparently a miracle as this doesn't happen to many if any spine trauma patients!! Especially this fast.
I go in on friday to have the last two things fixed (the two teeth I broke) Took a while to get WCB to resolve that issue.
My grandfather passed away recently and I had to write and read the eulogy.. He too was in a bad accident and crushed (broke the same two vertebrae) and walked again with a big smile. I guess The bloodline is just Tough!
I re-read all the posts today and most who know me.. Know that I'm a pretty solid character.. But It still brings tears to my eyes. Such great support from a great group. I wanted to pay thanks to everyone again. Cat for being there to lend an ear and some advice. Was great to hear some of those stories too! Twotter for the beers and moral support. Doc, I owe you a coffee buddy!
Thanks Everyone and blue skies.
