In regards to CMA's latest ad for Dornier crew out of YYC, does anyone have the latest info on the schedule the captains have, such as days on, pairings, overnights etc.
And what is the starting salary for the Dornier pilots?
Weekday pairings are YYC-YEG-YYE-YDQ-YVR, overnight in YVR, and do the return flights the following day. On Sundays, the same crew does both dirrections and the routing is the same except YYE is replaced by YXJ.
Yes it is brutal. But some of these no-minds dont get it. Refuse the job and watch it go up. Pilots are among the dumbest breed out there generally speaking.

Bingo.
It's too bad folks get the beer goggles on and accept these type of jobs.
Schedules are not the best. Expect no more than two days off in a row. Most are just single days off for the junior guys. No one gets what they bid for and gets frustrating. Pay starts at $40000 as stated above which I believe could be the lowest 705 paycheck in the country for captains. F/O's, if anyone is interested start at $25,000 for the dornier as well unless you bring specific experience to the table. There is a $20,500 bond over 13 months which is prorated every month till expiry. Pairings as also stated above are the same days every day 5 days a week. Sundays are long days. The odd charter comes up but usually goes to the senior guys as they will kill for a change sometimes. My recommendation would be to wait it out till they start paying more and can offer a better schedule. The 1900's get better schedules, not great but better and the pay is the same.
I wonder if there is any negotiation on those starting salaries for the Dornier. I can't see how anyone would be stupid enough to agree to fly a Dornier for 40 grand. Absurd.
If I'm correct, Linday's excuse for not giving a pay raise was "the company can't afford that" and when you look at the wage for about the last, say, 7 years i don't think it has gone up much (give him the benefit of the doubt). Last time i checked, the cost of living has gone up quite a bit...i mean, FO's make less than poverty line and are expected to live in a big city. When I showed surprise at the wage, Diane told me in a cool manner "most FOs get a second job"...ya no doubt eh!
From what I've been told, Pratt Guy pretty well sums it up. Not much flying for junior crew. Lots of reserve. Apparently only one Dornier is up and running most of the time with the other down for maintenance. The 1900 in all likelyhood would be a better gig as far as flying hours and time off. You have to wonder though why they dont fill the Dornier positon from within?
I hear that CMA is offering people more money......High time guys starting at TOP pay for the first year. If we all start refusing to work for peanuts they will have no choice but to pay more than McDonalds.
