Avionics Apprentice jobs anyone?

Post by drioux »

Hi everybody

I graduated may 2004 in avionics maintenance and I've been looking for a job in my field ever since. I'm at a point now where I'm considering the air force. Before I sign my life away, I want to make sure I've covered everything else available first. Can anyone suggest a company or organization that may be hiring or even thinking of hiring Avionics apprentices in and arround the GTA? :(

I'm realy desperate for an opening. If anyone knows anything that could help me out, please reply to this message. :)

Any help would be greately apreciated, thanks in advance.

Avionics Apprentices ?

Post by Mr. Maintenance »

In the GTA ? forget it, the employers in the that area, prefer " E " licensed, lots of experience in troubleshooting, meaning, technicians who are up on their feet and really know how to troubleshoot quickly and precisely...

Would you know how to quickly perform a transponder/altimeter correlation ramp test ? or troubleshoot an ADF unit that is off ?

Sorry to disappoint you...but avionics is a hard field to enter, the air force is a good choice...paid training, and good retirement, that is the good side of it, the other side, you will find out if you join.

Good luck !

wow Mr.Maintenance, that was depressing. And nice use of avionics lingo, i am sure the apprentice with a day of trainig could use the lingo and do the available maintenance task u specified. There are jobs, you just gotta look for em and be persistent. Being an engineering tech for the reserves, its not for everyone. So keep at avionics apprentice, or just go into engineering like me 8)

How about Brant Aero? They are a good group. It might be a bit out of your way, but sometimes your first break is. Good luck!

If your willing to "sign your life away" as a last resort, why don't you expand your job search into the rest of Canada? The military is going to put you where ever THEY want, not where you want.

EDIT: lol, just realized the original post was made over 2 years ago. So did you get a job, or join the military?
