Jazz Resume File shortage
Heard the other day that there are only 50 current applicants in the Jazz workopolis system. No wonder they are hiring college kids. Or maybe they should pay more.....
Unless you have a valid source I choose to call bs on that. The money is garbage but for many I 'm sure a Dash 8 or CRJ in civilization beats a (insert airplane type here) in (insert location here).Heard the other day that there are only 50 current applicants in the Jazz workopolis system.
You can interpret that however you would like.
over a dozen or so did a walk through a few weeks back. Hired maybe not yet, but certinally going through the process.Goose757 wrote:Has Jazz even hired ANY college grads? Because unless they have, I'm getting sick of people mentioning it, its getting old. Can anyone confirm?

50 applicants in the Workopolis system seems a little on the light side, considering a couple of months ago they had about 300 odd to screen. It is unlikely they are that efficient. Statistically out of 300 they were expecting to hire 45 give or take.
As to the college grads:
8 have been selected for the training programme, I believe is to start in the fall. Have they been hired? The answer is NO. They still have to complete the training.

How much money would you accept to be one number behind a kid with 200hrs? Or, how many hours does one need to have before you will accept one number behind him/her? What don't you understand about seniority?who would want to be 1 number behind a kid with 200hrs? I wouldnt, not for this money.

Here is a rumor I heard recently. Apparently some of these 200 pilots whoare getting called back from the evaluation are turning down Jazz. Again just a rumor but it would not surprise me, reducing your chances by getting on with mainline, being stuck here forever because of not having the PIC time to go anywherelse, and the fact that most pilots at Jazz don't want them here. they figure thy are better off going overseas or buliding their experince elsewhere.
As far as someone coming to Jazz and being below these 200 hour pilots. Still not a bad place to come to. Good experince that will help on geting on with WJ, CX , EK, AT etc.

hey rigpiggy..I'd be pretty interested to hear your source..as I smell bullshit. did they pass on their risk asessment to all the carriers in asia and europe that have been doing this sort of thing for decades, not to mention the ac guys who were hired out of college in the 70's..who are now senior captains...
We all know that the college kids are going to miss out on some great experiences by going straight to Jazz, but if any of them turn down Jazz they should get their head examined. It would be a huge opportunity and a great way to pay off student loans.
I think they do get their heads filled with a bunch of propaganda though, why sit right seat in an RJ when you could fly an A320.

Agreed. If only all of us would take a stand against this crap and all say NO. Lots from my company going to Jazz; they are taking high time captains and are even going to lower time fo's.Canoehead wrote:Plenty of well qualified pilots out there for Jazz. Many have been offered positions but are turning it down due to 'poor pay'.

I really don't give a RA what your ass smells like, trust me or Don't, My sources will always remain confidential. I'm fairly sure that my past posts carry greater weight than your 3. Oh and Asian and European carriers tend to run under a different litigation system than North America. AC in the 70's wasn't getting sued for hot coffee spilled in turbulence.

It's sad really. Back in the day when the regionals were sperate, I wanted nothing more then to fly a Dash or 146 for Nova and flog around the east making good money. Now Jazz is nothing more then a stepping stone. A very good stepping stone I might add.

Kag.
I have to agree. AC should hire mostly from Jazz. Still, I don't think Jazz people who are happy to be there appreciate your comments. I know you're HAPPY now, but believe it or not, others can be just as HAPPY. Just because things didn't work out for you at mainline doesn't mean you have to be-little Jazz. Haven't we been through this already? Jazz people are happy too. What's best is they don't have to go looking for lost wallets or put crying babies to sleep or be HAPPY owners to prove it like you have to. KAG, we know you're HAPPY, the fact is, we don't care.
