Jetsgo needs help!!!
my brother took a from to Toronto on that airline. first the plane was late. Upon getting inside the people were crammed up and there is no TV or snacks or drinks. Then the pilot said that there would be a longer delay because there wasnt enough fuel. Then the pilot announced later on that there was another delay because they were too heavy and that they had to take out a lot of fuel. Then when they finally left, the non stop flight to Calgary was cut short because they had to land in Winnipeg because they were low on fuel. At this point the passengers were really pissed off, and what did the airline do to compensate? They offered some sort of Jetsgo coupon worth $1, and on top of that, that was to be used to buy any food or drinks, to which they had to pay another dollar plus the coupon because drinks cost $2!!!! Then they finally took off and landed, only to find out that his luggage was still in Toronto!!

yes, except that the last time I travelled AC, i thought I had an AC ticket, but ended up it was a Zip flight, which in itself is not a huge deal. But the flight departed YYC 5 HOURS late, and I subseqently missed my connection to lovely Rankin inlet from Winnipeg. and guess what...even though Calm air was a code share partner at the time, AC said they would not pay for my accomodation in winnipeg(which i needed because the next flight to Ranking wasn't until the next day), because calm air and Zip are separate companies and Zip is only responsible to get me to winnipeg. even though AC sold me the ticket the whole way through, they shirked the responsiblity by giving me some line about Zip and Calm Air not having a close enough relationship to allow them to pay for their own f*ck ups! if I took an AC flight to say, oh Miami...and i was connecting to United to go to South America, and my AC flight was late, causing me to have to spend the night and take the next flight out on United, well they would pay. (this actually happened to me, so I know for sure that they do pay for accomodation in that ).
Point being, flying on AC doesn't make much difference. whether you go Jetsgo or AC they both suck! the only decent airlines in canada that I have flown on are Westjet, First AIr, Canadian North, and Air North. I haven't been on Canjet or Harmony, so I can't speak for them.

I had a friend on the same flight that had to stop for fuel...the flight attendants also forgot to do the saftey briefing until a good half hour into the flight...not impressive...must've been too busy "de-briefing" the flgith crew...the same friend is also a fueller in yyj. Twice he was fuelling and the pilot used the "fill'er up" remark. Friend starts pumping gas, after a reasonably long time the pilot is doing his walk around and my friend explains how much fuel has been added...pilot tells him to keep pumping until the automatic shutoff on the plane kicks in...they chat and my friend asks him if he should stop...pilot tells him to keep going...turns out that the fuel was pouring out the vent on the other wing for a very long time...pilot tries to blaim fueler...JetsGo sends formally apology to the Shell Aerocenter
What is the difference between god and pilots?
God doesn't think he is a pilot!

Wow
That is unheard of. Someone posting a story about being delayed, bumped from a flight, or a refueling problem. Get use to it!
There are post all over this forum of Air Canada, Westjet, Harmony, Jetsgo, Canjet, ect. ect of some flight that did not go as planned. If people would quit looking at slamming each others airline or airlines in general they would see things are not that bad after all. Just be happy you are flying. I have flown both Westjet and Jetsgo in the last few months some flights were delayed and some were fine. The point is who cares! If you don't like them don't fly them. Complaining about them doesn't do anybody any good.

You said it right we have a lot of stupid consumers out there. There’s an old adage “You get what you pay for” and it doesn’t only apply to aviation. The consumer only wants to pay Wal-Mart prices but expects first class treatment and products. Well folks I got news for you get used to it, glitches occur in all airlines and across all industries. It would be interesting to find out what industries some of these “rant artists” work in and post the glitches that occur in their industry.

that's what i've always found most interesting about the standard irate passenger. what world are they living in, where machines never break down, people never make mistakes, things are always planned perfectly and even assuming they were, everything always goes according to plan?
duh!
i think for most wound-up passengers (not themselves in aviation related fields) it boils down to two things: ignorance of the way the industry and the machines work, and belligerence brought on by their lack of control or even understanding of the situation.
plus, as someone once told me, most people when they walk into an airport check their brains at the door...

Something that I see recurring over various posts that hack on different airlines' services (although admirably Wild Cat has not done so), is to wish for the demise of an airline simply because someone had a bad customer service experience. These offended customers would be prepped and primed for a "Death to America" protest march in Tehran!
On the General Airline Industry Comments Forum of AvCanada, there have been some threads on how European consumers have found that the low-cost experience, thanks to slipshod companies like Ryanair, really does mean that you get what you pay for. About a year ago read an interview of a senior Lufthansa manager, who said that while he realized that Lufthansa would lose customers to the low-cost crowd, he wasn't terribly concerned because many of them would come back eventually to Lufthansa.

It's the new trend. Spend as little money on operational training and customer service as you can, and then try make as much bling as you can for this week, because who knows, we might be bank-assed next week.
Sucks, but that's the way it goes.
I think I saw on the HISTORY channel that they used to have fine china on flights with all meals were first class. Those days are over.
Just think, if the trend continues, in a few more years they'll cram so many peeps into the phat cans that you gotta stand the whole flight like a bus ride. If they are late, you'll have to pay more money for the "gate time". If they land somewhere else for gas...that'll cost ya too. Compaining? Just dial thier freindly 1-900 number for prompt automated service.

Let me just start off by saying that I wasnt writing something in a manner of demonstration against Jetsgo, rather instead that Jetsgo needs help!
The reason why I needed to mention this on the forum was because many friends of mine, have complained about the fact that the one time that they were on, they were forced to land in cities for to refuel, particularly Winnipeg. I understand about delays because of mechanical problems, or bad weather delays, but you dont hear very often of airlines landinng in Winnipeg because they are low on fuel! I'm not sure if their aircraft are not really capable of makeing the whole Toronto-Calgary trip because of weight problems or careless pilots, but they can at least, refund some money or at least some sort of discount for them if they wish to fly their airline again. there are many times when their ticket prices are the same as other airlines, so one can expect some sort of basic service of flying nonstop Calgary-Toronto when advertised on their website or newspapers. Yet again there is something of a good point that many of you have written in this forum, and that is you get what you pay for! And even though my bro paid just three dollars less than what Air Canada was offering, you are all right when you state that a low fare airline may offer some poor service! once again, this was not an Anti-Jetsgo comment rather of how some input can be given in this forum about a better service to this airline rather than just cheap fare prices.
Keep it cool guys, and remember that you pilots are darn awesome and keep up the good work!!!

Sorry to hear your friend had a bad flight. The only reason I can think of why the AC would have to stop for gas going to calgary would be a malfunctioning EPR gauge. It reduces our take off weight 11000lbs out of toronto. Meaning our maximum takeoff wieght would be reduced to 149000lbs. A full load of pax and bags generally gives us a zero fuel weight around 117000lbs. That would leave 32000lbs left for fuel and that trip usually requires around 35000lbs.
It is sad to say but what is going to happen is a bunch of LCC's world-wide are going to crash and kill a couple of thousand people before anything is done. All of these little glitchs will all line up some day and an airplanes will get crunched. People will get killed. I am not suggesting any particular airline or country, because the problem is almost word-wide. Just hope like hell no politicians or small kids are among those killed. Killing a politician is an non survivable act. They and their associates wield too much clout and have the resources to inflict much damage. All legal of course. If a politician gets killed, they name airports, highways, bridges and buildings after them. The lawyers have had their feeding frenzy and now it is the politician's turn. Politicians need photo-ops and this is a noble one. Look what G Dubbya did with the World Trade Center. Get some ball of fluff in front of a TV camera and it will be an opportunity too good to pass up. Couple that with the Legacy carriers stirring the pot with their lobby groups and it will be too much for the LCC's to survive.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Can anyone explain how an airline can make money this way? Where is the catch? What does this say about the financials?Longtimer wrote:Your story just illustrates what you get when you go discount. Get him to try AC next time. Their fares, if purchased in advance, are close to what Jetsgo charges, unless of course your brother was using their $1.00 special.
Timing is everything.
Jetsgo has a Transport Canada guy sit in the cockpit for every flight because majority of their pilots are underqualified. Add the cost of the ticket and the amount of money you are paying in taxes (TC guys salary) for jetsgo to remain operational and your ticket is far more expensive than most airlines in Canada. From what I have heard it is almost routine for jestgo's planes to exit the runway and lose an engine because they have run out of fuel. Will the pilot know what to do next time they run out of fuel in the air.

You cleared it up for me, so thanks.ya and you probably started that rumor. Jetsgo is doing just fine, sad to disappoint you and yes we got payed just like every other pay period. How are those profit sharing checks coming
Re: profit share checks, I've yet to be disappointed.
Yup, it seems that JetsGo has the perfect business plan. You pay them to fly. Almost reminds me of an operator in BC...CanadaEH wrote:I heard the other day that Jetsgo didn't pay its employees - any truth to that?

Hmm I wonder how many folks on this forum heard the BBC interview with the Ryanair CEO. In a nut shell he is predicating that passengers will fly for free in the near future their passage being paid by the advertisements on the aircraft and other on board sales and fees. He never specified whether or not the flight crew would have their working apparel adorned with ads or perhaps they will have to pay to work. Ryanair shares are down 40% for the year..
