..and here we sit?

How would you like to be a 20 year AME working for Air Canada in Vancouver today, tossing your tool box in the trunk of your car?
Johnny

I think what we are all missing here is that the "restructuring plan" was Milton's baby. Notice both Mr. Li and Cerberus both had Milton remaining and making a lot of money. Why? Because both groups bought into "his" plan.

In other words the break up of Air Canada into individual companies that either sink or swim on their own was Milton. Of course there would have been some differences. Mr. Li would likely not be extracting value or monetizing the units as we see today. Also notice that Milton's first choice for investors was not Cerberus.

But back to my point. In both instances the "plan" was to break up the company into units. Units that must be profitable on their own. Pretty tough to be profitable doing heavy maintenance in Canada.

Yes it sucks, but I think the same thing would have happened even if Mr. Li had won.

Mr. Milton was seen spending much time in NY (home of Cerberus and big office of GE financial) just before CCAA (apparantly bought some Champaign for the agents in LGA one day). They worked on a plan where certain people would make alot of cash. And here we are today. Milton's real reason for putting us into CCAA is appearing right before us. He'll soon be gone, as will the vultures, albeit much wealthier. It's been a slice.

It's politics bro. I've never hidden that side of this great job. Happiness and politics are two different things and you learn to separate them, but you can only understand that if you're smart and SOBRE which will be a challenge for you. I'll let ya in on a little secret laddy, day after day, I'm still having more fun than you. And if that's you in your avtar, I take back all those nasty things I said about you. :P

I know the Blue side was really hoping for Jerry. Who knows, maybe he was better but my sources tell me he would have done precisely what Cerberus is now doing, any way you call it.
Ah, the mythical, non-existent "sources" again; pretending you're dialed into the corporate plans at ONEX, or that you know someone who is? Can you find even one example of a company purchased whole or in part by ONEX where the plan was what you claim would've happened at AC?

Brick Head, I did not state that ONEX did nothing but purchase distressed companies. I do stand by my statement that they do have a track record of doing so; however that's not to say it's there only business plan. My point is quite clear: ONEX has been a success at growing companies, not breaking them up.
