A place to work overseas?

Post by Appletini »

Okay...

I am lazy and I dont feel like doing any research on this subject.

But what kind of aviation (successful) job could I get working over in the indonesia area?

My whole goal is to live in a sail boat. Somewhere warm.

Fire Away.

Appletini. Take it sleezy.

p.s. Doesn't have to be Indonesia. Anywhere warm and where they like white people.

Your talking about the largest muslim population outside of the middle east.

The only white people the like are the ones tied to a stick roasting over a camp fire while the men are dancing with spears and the women are chanting.

My suggestion. The carribian, or brazil (Carnival)

sorry. What were we talking about?

Work for Conair or Airspray and spend your winters on a boat not working, in a location that floats yer boat, so to speak.

So this Conair company looks pretty cool. Im guessing they get paid a salary for the whole year but only work during the summer months. Then I could get to go live in Thailand in my boat. Good ideas boys. keep em coming.

yeh I had heard about Susi hiring a while back. And now that I might be acquiring myself some 208 time I might get a reply. That is pretty awesome with the surf charters.

Any idea as to what pay is like?

ya. Captains get $2000USD per month tax free. They will pay you something less until you are checked out as Captain. For insurance reason captains have to have 1000 total time and 500 turbine at the moment. This may change in the future. They will consider hiring foreign FO's but likely only if you know someone in the company. FO's make $500 USD per month.

In the world actually. (Not trying to grind your gears just getting the facts)
The only white people the like are the ones tied to a stick roasting over a camp fire while the men are dancing with spears and the women are chanting.
That IS a huge traditional muslim ceremony during Ramadan.

For a job that pays $500 a month you need to have "inside connections".

Frack me....

Ya. I suppose its not all that great. But for a fresh grad its a whole lot better than going to throw bags in the arctic with the possibility of maybe eventually getting to fly something from the middle of no where to the middle of no where. (unless you enjoy that sort of thing of course)

Susi Air pays for housing and food at the hanger each day. Not to mention a great sched in a great region. 6 days on 1 day off for 3 weeks then 1 week off to do what ever you want, go where ever you want. It's really cheap to travel around. Close to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and many more. It's also really cheap living. $500 doesn't sound like a lot but you could actually live pretty well on that here as long as you don't mind not saving money.

If you are a fresh grad with 250 hours and are offered a paying flying job in Asia you'd have to be crazy to turn it down for a ramp job or $6000 for an instructor rating.

Yes Indo has the Worlds biggest Muslim population. It is pretty moderate overall though with the exception of Aceh province. If you're afraid of terrorists I suggest you stay in Canada. Or better yet, stay in your parents basement, avoid talking or going within 20M of any non-white person. In my opinion I'd say your chances of being killed by a terrorist are just as high in North America or Europe as they are anywhere else.
