SWG is a pretty good company. money is not the best (if compared to skyservice or transat), but ok. it beats ac for the first two years and then you're behind for the rest of your career moneywise and otherwise i.e. benefits etc..
they do have big plans and will be seeing huge expansion for the upcoming season. that being said such expansio does bring problems: i.e. where to find qualified crew. they do a lot of outside hiring, for captains as well and that might hamper f/o upgrades. thing is they need captains now not later when a f/o might be ready for upgrade.
swg is bleeding pilots to ac like any other operators with both captains and f/os leaving. that is why there's a bond (promisary note) now, of 24000 over two years.
all that being said: upgrades might be quicker for some than others (based on experience, or so we are told). lots of flying on an aircraft type that's very popular around the world. widebody aircraft are in the books for the next few years, but as usual don't hold your breath.
swg is a fun place. good flying and lots of it. don't plan on deployment, more senior guys might take all the spots for money and some fun under the sun. so, moneywise just bank on the salary figures they give you.
at the end of the day swg is a great option for everyone. they'll be around for quite a number of years. however, as everyone knows there's only one real airline in this country if you want to hava a long and secure career in canada. if you hate them or love them it's ac.
if that doesn't matter to you come to swg.

Thanks. Finally some info that is useful. I noticed on their web site that they no longer give the # to fax a resume. If anyone could PM me this info, I'd appreciate it thanks.
What are the chances they'll expand out west?

chances of expansion out west?????????? am not sure about that. swg is trying this winter season, however all pilots will be toronto based. in fact sunwing vacations already operated out west last season, not the airline. DO NOT EXPECT TO EVER see a permanent base out there. the western market traditionally seems very hard and competitive.
the name of the game is to provide all your own lift for when you need it. then it's of to europe or elsewhere to make excess capacity pay on way or another.
re fax #: maybe respect their way of how they want you to apply. keep in mind that most operators are hard up for qualified pilots these days. so, if you meet the requirements even remotely, chances are that you will get a call.
good luck!!!!!!!!

Never say never. "Traditionally" I would agree with you. However, if you look at where, in both Canada and the U.S, populations are growing the fastest, the West is due for some expansion. Maybe not on this upswing of the economy but possibly the next. I'm not talking specifically about Sunwing, but at some point you would think there might be a great charter airline presence out West. If Sunwing stays around long enough, they may be able to make it work. IMHO

SUNWING never had a starting wage of 65K for F/O. It's 48K first year, 60K 2nd year and goes up from there.
it is 20% below par with skyservice and even more with air transat. however, there's a lot of overtime and if you have enough seniority you can go for uk deployment, which enables you to save quite a bit of money.
sunwing is a new company, therefore lots of things that need to be ironed out, but i think it's a great place to be.
