Need help with my DC-X11

Post by DHQ »

I've had a David Clark X-11 for a couple months now. I like it, but it has one annoying feature.

When you have an MP3 player plugged in, and you receive a radio call or someone speaks on the intercom it cuts out the music. There is no switch to disable this feature, like on some other headsets. Now, if you plug in a cell phone, rather than an MP3 player it does NOT cut out.

When I'm out in the middle of nowhere and just chatting with the other pilot, I'd like the music to continue playing, rather than cutting out every 3 seconds.

So, has anyone figured out a way to bypass or disable this feature? Or to trick the headset into thinking the MP3 player is a cell phone? I emailed DC, but they said this feature cannot be disabled.

Cheers,

I agree with Justwannafly - music is iffy in the cockpit, especially if there is a cojo there.

Its like studying with music - you're either concentrating on the work or the music but you're not giving either 100%.

David Clarkes are antiques, although very durable - way better choices now.

How many airlines allow MP3 players to be used in headsets in the cockpit during flight operations?

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

try a 3.5mm stereo to 2.5mm stereo adapter and then plug it into the cell phone input

Or buy a Telex Stratus 50D, a real headset ;-)
