Laurie River beaver crash - anyone have details?

Post by sophmore bushpilot »

Just wondering if anyone knows details on that beaver crash in Laurie River.
I heard gusty conditions, hot day and floats dug.

was it the pilot who got lost on the wrong side of an island after landing and had to be told how to get to the dock over the radio. AT THE COMPANY BASE THAT HE HAD FLOWEN OUT OF FOR TWO YEARS?

don't think so. I've met the guy who was flying this beaver and he seemed like he'd been around for awhile. Pretty level headed pilot. Apparently no one was seriously hurt.

Haha, it's a bit confusing but tofo's second post was originally different, and it was edited by a mod to read what it currently says. I suspect "D" stands for Doc...

Pretty much exactly what happened, conditions were very gusty that day. From what I was told an unusually large gust caught it at the wrong time and spun it 45 degrees. Not sure whether it was the float or wing that dug in first but the result was that it flipped over with the one wing damaged.

Five people aboard and all escaped without injury.

I believe there was no head wind that day, and that was the problem
