Looking for Multi time in Alberta and a J.O.B
Trying to build some hours, currently at 400hours tt and around 40-50hours multi.
Its tough, everyone here says i need at least 500hours for insurance reasons.
I figure i can do around 15-20hours a month multi if i can find a place that will rent out. There is no way im paying for an instructor to come along with me. Than in feb im going to head down south and do a 100hour block, ive already researched and found a good place and its all PIC time no other BS safety time.
Any suggestions welcome,
thanks

Save yourself some money and don't rent a twin. go buy yourself a Navajo PPC then you will be able to get a job anywhere you apply.
Money is what is really respected in aviation, not hard work and dedication, save yourself all the miserable years at the bottom and just buy your way to the top. Then you will have earned your peers respect.

PPC
Yeah, @#$! slinging bags, buy a couple of PPC'S and you're good to go.
MULTI in Florida!
Go to ARI BEN aviation in Fort Pierce Florida......www.aribenaviator.com
100 pic multi for 95$/hr Wet! Beech Duchess....
Half flying, the other half safety pilot time......Transport Canada does not acknowledge safety pilot time like the FAA
BUT
If you get an FAA multi engine instructor rating or have Canadian instructor rating, then it would all count as PIC (since you would be giving instructions)
It cost about a 1000$ more, but the outcome would be like 105$ hr wet!!
Kids in the U.S are doing this & flying CRJs for regionals a couple of months later!!

Asking a pilot about what he thinks of Transport Canada, is like asking a fire hydrant what does he think about dogs.

Re: MULTI in Florida!
Yes, "kids" are doing this down south, but what they dont realize is that they are dragging wages and lifestyle down with them when they accept a job which pays you $20,000 (in some cases less) to fly a friggin RJ based somewhere like LAX or NYC where the cost of living is ridiculous.THEICEMAN wrote: Kids in the U.S are doing this & flying CRJs for regionals a couple of months later!!
Why do you think the mins at the regionals are so low? It's probably because the experienced pilots are smart enough to look for better paying corporate jobs.
The regional with the absolute worst reputation in the USA (Mesa) has mins of 250hrs and 25 multi, bare CPL with MIFR. They pay you crap, and the turnover there is extremely high.
The regional with the best reputation (they actually won awards and were voted best regional US airline) is Horizon. They have the highest starting wage (around $28,000) and their mins are the highest (1500hrs, with 100+ multi).

Go bug Air Mikisew in Ft. MacMurray, they're usually looking for people.
Step 1. Fax, mail and email resume
step 2. Phone and introduce yourself and make sure they've seen your resume
step 3. Drive there and ask if you can speak with the cp or whoever is there that will talk to you. Show up ready to throw bags and wash airplanes. (Bring 2weeks of clothes) that way you could start that day if they needed.
step 4. repeat step 3 until you have a job.
Find a few companies around alberta (not calgary and edmonton) and bug them as listed above.
Thats how most people do it unless you know somebody or go instruct
