Headin to Toronto, looking for tips

Post by Highflyinpilot »

Hi everyone, Im headin to toronto on friday for the weekend, gonna go check out the toronto zoo, on the way gonna stop over in bracebridge and check out santas village.

A trip to toronto wont go without a couple hours of plane spotting, Anyone know the best location for some plane spotting, maybe roads, parking lots, Im not familiar with toronto, but i got mapquest, So where do you recommend to go do some plane spotting.

Thanks

Either end of 05/23 off airport road if 23 is active, or dixie for 05, (my personal fav). You can also try silver dart drive to watch approaches to 24L & R. I find that security is floating around there fairly often though.

Also, if you got a few bucks to spare, go up the CN tower. Nice view of YTZ from there.

Midfield. At Pearson.

Take Dixie Rd from 401 to Brittania Rd and go east towards the airport. Take a right on Courtney Park and follow the road to the midfield area. You will go past the (now unmanned) security post. You should spot the control tower from far and away.

If you take Midfield road you will go straight to the control tower. Follow the road around Skyservice FBO (go left once you reach the frt door of the FBO) and you will see Pearson from their fence.

If you keep going straight past Midfield Rd you will see the Infield terminal as well as the Cargo area. Lots of room there as well.

North view

On Derry Rd the first light west of Torbram will take you by Skyservice (Airlines) (Field Aviation Air Georgian etc etc.. will be to the right) Follow the road (you will actually drive parallel to Derry Rd for a bit) and it will turn south. When you reach the end you will see Pearson from the north.

South view

When you reach the unmanned post and the stop sign instead of going straight through (to the midfield area) make a right and you will take the service road along the south end of the airport...

CN tower will get you a view of City Centre airport .....

There is no cost now to cross the channel to get to the Island Airport (courtesy of Mr. Deluce.....) and you can see Porter's new fleet......Parking is close by...

Aviation World/The Landing Strip parking lot is always a good one.

You can also go inside the 'Landing Strip' to spot beavers on approach.

This is by far the best spot, as they got picnic benches that you can sit on
