Want to work in beautiful kelowna?

Post by Pat Richard »

One place(think fried chicken) is apparently quite needy for AME's thesedays.

Some info about then for the curious. Lest we forget what they're all about.

I love it here in Kellowna but it's a good thing that I moved here 10 years ago because it is just too expensive to move here now. I pity the young families starting out.

yup, expensive as hell here, on top of everything else.

I also bought awhile ago, and I don't see how anyone can make it on whats being offered. Tough enough getting by renting, that's if you can snag a place. I read in the paper a little while back that an individual who makes 70G a year will not qualify to purchase a starter home in the Valley.
Don't think KFC is offereing anywhere near that for the AME's it needs. so Im waiting for them to start pounding the "there's an Ame shortage!" drums anytime, if I have'nt already missed it..

maybe they should brought a load of Philipino's back with the strectch a few years ago. I hear the work for next to nothing  Can't Bazza bring up a load of mexicans next ime he repo's a plane from down that way?
I worked for KFC for 3 years back at the end of the 90's as part of the overseas contingment and enjoyed my time with the company, although most of it was spent in YVR. The downside of my time in YLW was my midgit crew chief who is running the engine shop now????? he had a big chip on his shoulder.
Again, it depends on who you work for within the company, CC's vary greatly.

They are trying to rosy up their image, as they badly need people and aren't having a lot of success getting them. Having also worked there in the past I can say their rep is deserved, as much of what is written here, I experienced. No fond memories for me.
I did hear things had somewhat improved, but Im guessing it was forced because of them trying to attract AME's. I still would have a hard time recommending them to anyone.
Good luck to those who take the plunge.

PS I worked at the Kelowna high security camp, the outer bases were supposed to be more like juvenile detention. Much nicer!

Hmm, can't help but notice no current employees jumping in on your bash KFC thread PR, that could be a sign of the times. BT is not running the engine shop by the way, just twisting wrenches.

You think KFC's fortunes have changed because of what you see in this thread? Dream on.
I think it's more of a case people already know, so there's nothing left to discuss. I was'nt looking for a sing along, this song as been sung aplenty.

I just wanted all to remember the lyrics... :)

Same song like a broken record right Pat. People loose interest in hearing the same song from the same guy all the time. :D

KFC laid off some AME's in YVR a few weeks back.

Same old song as usual. Short sighted knee jerking reactions as usual.

Dont rush to work for them, they have history. And as we all know, history repeats.

Yes KFC Laid off some AME's in YVR a few weeks ago but a few off those were only hired for the busy summer. When you go from handling 10+ aircraft a day to less than 5 its kind of hard to keep all your staff around.
