News should be coming out soon, and not of the doom and gloom variety.

CanJet will be getting two NG's this december, and convert to a all NG fleet by June 2008. Looks like they're not going to die any time soon.

Two ng's. The company is stone walling ALPA, so who is going to fly these planes. The numbers dont add up.

Listen mr. GB, since you don't seem to have the ba__s to enlighten us as to your persona, and considering that you do not even work at CJ anymore(perhaps never worked here-most likley) thankfully, since people with your attitude are poison in the workplace), why don't you keep your uninformed, untruthful and incorrect information out of the public stream? Why is everything a conspiracy with you? Is it because you feel left out, and are lashing out at everyone who is happy where they work...and poor, poor you, left behind and missing out on the new fancy airplanes? Maybe you should take a good long look at yourself in the mirror and ask, "Is this how I want to live my life - making everyone else feel as crappy as me?" If so, fine. Just don't expect to have too many people in your cadre of friends. Loser. Feel free to pm me and we can disuss this at length.

I will keep this debate short. I am happy for your optimistic outlook mr. happy feet. I think you are being a little harsh, and perhaps very naive or stupid. I am very well informed on CJ perhaps more than yourself.

NG's eh...well hopefully it isn't the same BS they have been promising since 2003 and they take the "big step" this time. If it is finally true this is great news for CJ and all the great people still there ...good luck !!

GB You now have your answer from one of our pilot group better expressed than I could have given you and generally represents how we feel as a CJ pilot group. As you now work for ACJazz and started this miserable thread perhaps a gracious exit is for you to now close it so that a more positive and constructive CJ thread can be started by someone. You can then full-time direct your troublemaking comments at your own peers and management where I understand they may have more relevance. :D

Hifly you continue to be an idiot. Hadn't heard from you in a while so we had hoped you had taken up driving a street-sweeper instead. Don't use first names in attempt to uncover these aliases. Thats not how this site works and you know it. GB's identity is private, as is yours.

hifly,
You should really make sure of your facts before you try to throw names around. XXXX was very dedicated and worked very hard towards making CJ a better place to work. Any benefits you reap from ALPA you will owe partially to XXX for getting the ball rolling.
I'm really glad to hear about the NG's. it's a good move for CJ and a nice treat for the pilots. A nicer class of airplane, heavier and more powerfull. Any idea as to what the pay increase will be for moving up to a better class A/C?

Rickenbacker, your more sensible post deserves an answer. Concerning XXXX and ALPA there is very little support here for your opinion, in fact many of us believe we may be better off without ALPA and working together with the company as per WJ and our IMP sister division Execaire in YUL and YYZ which employs twice as many pilots as we have at CJ and where everyone seems content with their package. IMP, where CJ is only about 5% of its size , is not an airline, and what small amount I know about the culture of the company is they treat everyone equally where they can. As a captain my benefit package is the same as their senior management and includes a pension where WJ for instance I believe does not have one and relies on stock options where many are worthless today! You mentioned salaries, we have a progressive annual scale which has been reviewed from time to time and increased in the past. The company could wet lease the new NG's but has chosen to use its own pilots and pay for our upgrade training. These are some of the reasons why CJ is a great place to work and small enough where everyone feels part of the rebuilding and renewal program taking place at CJ. :D

HiFly you are special.

But please, tell me more about the cj pension plan.

I seem to remember 2% put in by the FO's and matched by the company (but only after 2 years unbroken service). The Captains, putting in 5% and being matched on that as well. Now, if you do the math, and I'm sure that you have. You know that you cannot retire on that. At best, the top of your payscale is $100,000 per year. Thats $10,000 per year into your pension...I sure hope your a very young person, cause even if cj lasts 20 years, and we know it won't, you'll still only have $200,000 before you add your compound interest. Again, Ouch, not much...but hay its a nice place to work, and as you said, you'll be better off than all those dummies at WJ with their worthless stocks.

cj...the benifits do stagger the mind.

CantStandYa, With StickShaker and GB you are a bright trio and deserve each other at AC/Jazz as you have all demonstrated by your negative posts over the last few months. However, your actuarial knowledge of pension plans is limited at best by your statements. Care to tell us what yours is as you sweat it out at the bottom end of your caring airline! :D

The new fleet of -800’s is good news for all my former coworkers at Canjet. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction and living season to season waiting to hear if contracts for the next season have been signed, with no communication from management, is a thing of the past. This fine group of people deserves no less. I wish you all the best!

I know a lot of people who wish CanJet had at least seasonal domestic service.

Guys, please no names unless the person choses to name themselves.

I've went through and deleted or XXXX'ed the name out where it came up. I realize that this is quite heated and hits close to home for many.

Like pretty much anything on this site, there's two sides to the story. I've enjoyed reading through what everyone's said in the last 30something pages and trying to create a picture of what actually has taken place.

Are those the same people who supported Canjet v 1.0 and Canjet v2.0? Honestly though, seasonal flights - depending on where they fly - could work. I'm going to assume AC is as full as WS is and if that's the case the market could use some more capacity.... in small doses.

Hifly, you'd better check your pension statement, and plan. I believe you are wrong again. As for ALPA, I am certain Duane Worthe wishes he never heard of CJ. ALPA has put more into helping you than they will ever get in return. Nice attitude coming from someone who would never had seen the any recall rights in order of seniority, and the companies portion of pension contributions (for some that was thousands of dollars) had it not been for ALPA. For your sake, and the sake of the rest of the pilots there, you should fight to keep ALPA. They are the best thing to ever come onto that property.

738s!!!! Well that is a surprise from I left CanJet!
I thought there moto was, to lease for super cheap 737 classics......
High CASM due to fuel would be offseted by the low cost of ownership???

Anyways! CANJet was a flawed idea from the start! (you don't base an airline in an area where there are only 750,000 people!)

But if it manages to stay charter (sunquest, transat holidays, etc.).. & keep only 5 airplanes....it just might work!

B737-800 lease rates are from $285,000 to $410,000/month.

B737-500 lease rates are from $125,000 to $165,000/month.

now factor in down time due to maintenance and costs for maintenance, plus difference in costs of fuel, range, public image having newer airplanes... hmm what else? CASM RASM and FLASM?

Anyways, I don't think they're that far apart in the end. If it's so bad, then how is WJ, sunwing, RyanAir, and southwest making it work?

CanJet NG's? I'll only believe it when I see them making tracks in the snow.
