JETSTAR warns about 787 cost

Post by THEICEMAN »

An extract from an article from Flight International
Speaking at the maintenance masterclass at last week's Asian Aerospace Congress in Hong Kong, Seb Mackinnon, acting general manager of procurement at the Qantas low-cost subsidiary, said that the figures Jetstar had calculated so far for 787 per hour operating costs is "quantum higher than what the Qantas group was expecting and that's obviously pretty alarming".

Asking a pilot about what he thinks of Transport Canada, is like asking a fire hydrant what does he think about dogs.

Seeing as it's supposed to fly along on a wiff of fuel, that would mean that the maintenance costs would be astronomical. They don't even have a prototype yet, how do they know the maintenance costs?

maybe they're just assuming that with all the fancy new technology there's going to be some very serious teething issues.
