Doug Jenkins R.I.P

Post by CYWL »

I just found out the sad news that Doug Jenkins, well known in the Alberta aviation community has passed away. Doug was well known as an aerobatic instructor, aerobatic pilot, tailwheel/citabria aficiando, and car collector. Doug was a past president of the Alberta Aerobatic Club, member of the Aerobatic Club of Canada, and a certified judge for the International Aerobatic Club. I will always be greatful for the patience he showed me many years ago when I first learned to fly an airplane "without the training wheel". That led to many pleasant hours of aerobatic training, and untold hours of hangar flying. The information, support, and kindness he showed me shall never be forgotten.
Rest easy my friend.

Paying my respects here

Doug was an amazing pilot and an even better teacher, he gave me my first taste of aerobatics and was an positive force at Springbank. You will be missed.

RIP Doug

Doug taught me to fly a taildragger and aerobatics. He was a hell of a pilot. It always amazed me how he could tell the airspeed of the plane within 2 knots from the back seat without looking at the airspeed indicator, just from the way the plane felt.

I only flew once with Doug but during that flight I was very impressed with his skill, passion and character.

RIP

I never flew with Doug but knew him through his visits to the tower over the many years I spent at Springbank.

A genuine nice guy who would give you the shirt off is back if he thought you needed it.

He will be sorely missed in the Calgary aviation community.

I consider it a privilege to have known him and called him a friend.
