IFR routing

Yeah, I wouldn't trust the new US FSS if my life depended on it. They have 1/3 the staff they used to and cut the pay dramatically. You just know you are getting quality employees applying now. Plus they seem to have trouble remembering to open VFR flight plans. Stick to IFR and talk to ATC, the privatization of FSS in the US was a butcher job.

Ya pilots dont look at a map enough but when flying into high density airspace you can file one thing and get a completly different route. Best to look up recently used routes on fltplan.com or flightaware or ask. Nothing worse then spending 30 min trying to figure out waypoints from some clearance that is nothing like you filed.

Asking a pilot about what he thinks of Transport Canada, is like asking a fire hydrant what does he think about dogs.
