How OLD is TOO old to drive a car??

Post by Doc »

After being almost T-boned by yet another Q-tip behind the steering wheel of a brand new 1973 Olds 98, I must ask....when do you pull the license on these coffin dodgers? And who do you sue if one hits you? Their family doctor??

At least in Ontario, I think when you hit 80, you have to re-take your driving test, and again every couple (?) of years thereafter.

Driving (and riding a motorcycle) in Florida, which is the Retirement State(tm) can be quite interesting!

Frankly, I think it makes sense for old people to drive carelessly and recklessly - they have much less to lose than young people, who logically should always drive slowly and carefully, because they have so much more (many years) to lose!

Actually, in Ontario, drivers must take a vision test, and a written test at 80. No road test required. Mull that one over.

EVERYBODY should be re-tested. Pilots get it every 6 months. Go ahead and use the seniors as an example, but test everyone. The seniors are annoying, but its single women in SUVs and single guys in pick-ups who are dangerous.

Not everyone ages at the same rate.

Bob Hoover was still doing his engines feathered routine in the Shrike Commander at airshows in his early 80's.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

I see enough morons on the road under 50. I say everyone from 16 and up should have to take a road test every 5 years.

True and a lot of others are doing much worse. Make the standard for the lowest common denominator, not the top guns.

Bob Hoover and others would probably have no problem passing the road test, so no worries :D Test everyone every so often.

If I'm old and shitty drivin' enough to have them pull my licence, I'll just buy a car, drive it uninsured, and when(if) I'm busted, I'll just say, "WHAT!?!?! No one told me I needed insurance?!!?!? Where's my Depends? Are you my grandson? Do you remember Tommy Douglas? You look just like him!"

I will also shoplift like a motherfucker once I'm over 80. HAHAHAAAAA!!!

Gonna send ol' senile ISTP to jail for a bag of Doritos or a mickey of rye? I didn't think so!!

@#$! Freedom 55! I'm thinkin' FREEBIE 80!!!

AND.... I have no idea what the @#$! Tommy Douglas looks like!

The Golden Years indeed! Bring it on!

There are pictures of him all over Socialist Saskatchewan. The guy is treated like a god here for some reason. Oh well in about a months time this province will be known as " The Former Socialist Saskatchewan". Actually I shouldn't trash on Tommy Douglas. He did do alot of good however I don't think he would approve of how he is used as a political martyr in this province. Especially now that the Cancer nurses are threatening strike action leaving cancer patients without care. The Union should be ashamed of itself. I don't think Tommy would side with them. Providing care should be priority.

I'm with excessbank on this one. I was tailgated yesterday on the interstate off ramp by a chick steering with her knee and plucking her eybrows in the rear view mirror. Hot chick too. I nearly drove off the road when my wife looked back to see what I was staring at and then clobbered me in the ear. Test everyone.
