They'll have to be lowering their minimums or paying charter companies a shirt load more or they won't be finding people who meet their exorbitant requirements.

You may want to re think that one, because Cariboo only has 2 Shell qualified 1900 pilots, one in YYC and one in YEG. Having that kind of time, who knows how long they will stay put....

Is Shell looking for Dornier pilots?
having such high requirements make you think they'd just keep their own pilots rather then charter out to a company that inly has two qualified pilots.
Oh corporate aviation has a sad sad history of doing this. One company has a flight department for years and years and then one day somebody else buys the whole company and the new owner wants nothing to do with aircraft ownership and bam done. I hope this isn't Shell's path. There are a lot of good people there who've done their time.
Hey tripleitt I'm pretty sure they have 3 captains in Calgary that meet the qualifications and 1 in Edmonton for the 1900 and 3 Captains in Calgary and 2 in Edmonton on the dash that also meet them.
NCA's dash8 was up here (YMM) three times this week to cover for shell's dornier, not sure if it was cause the dornier was down for maintenance but thats what ive heard...
Very odd,
Shell just unloaded a bucket of money on the Josephburg airport near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta to widen the runway to 100ft and length to 4,500ft. Runway lights, odals, and approach paths and powerline burying were also carried out from what I gather.
